Gas Technician

Job Ref: REF/GT/06/17
 
Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Carries out operation and maintenance of all Kitchen equipment and utilities.
  • Carries out scheduled preventive maintenance on all Kitchen appliances.
  • Ensures proper maintenance of equipment, tools, materials utilized per work site adhere to principles and practices of safe use and operation.
  • Install and maintain kitchen equipment, grease traps and other special equipment.
  • Maintenance of microwaves and other modern kitchen equipment.
  • Maintenance of gas (LPG) plumbing system.
  • Monitoring of kitchen utilities and ensure adequate supply.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Refrigeration and Air-conditioning Technician

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Carries out preventive maintenance of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment and systems.
  • Repairs faulty Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment and Plant.
  • Carries out routine checks and logs of the status of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment.
  • Requisitions for materials required for the smooth operation of the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning equipment.
  • Assists in verification of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning spares purchased/supplied
  • Trouble-shoot Air Conditioning equipment malfunctions, diagnose problems and perform maintenance on Refrigeration & Air Conditioning equipment.
  • Manage the safety of the refrigerators and air conditioners
  • Make recommendations to replace equipment if expected cost to repair exceeds possible replacement cost.
  • Maintain job worksheets detailing nature of assignment, parts utilized, time expended and type of work performed

Electronics Technician

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Ensuring repairs, maintenance and service of electronic equipment (including TV’s, DSTV, Soft boards, fire detection panels, controls for kitchen and other equipment, and projectors), and their proper functioning.
  • Maintain and repair audio visual equipment in the Hospital.
  • Install, modify, and maintain electronic equipment as required.

Help Desk Assistant


Job Ref: REF/HDA/06/17
 
Reporting to the Assistant Engineer - Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Man the help desk and keep a log of all help desk interactions.
  • Receive maintenance requests through maintenance request cards, email, phone and verbally and keep an up to date register of all maintenance requests.
  • Direct the requests to the supervisors for allocation to the maintenance team.
  • Document and track the status of all maintenance requests, and share a weekly report with users.
  • On a daily basis prepare and circulate the out of service / intermittent operating equipment report and circulate by 8:00 am daily.
  • On a continuous basis, summarize and update the Hospital engineering and maintenance management team on status and progress of the maintenance requests. (several times daily)
  • Maintain a record, track and on a monthly basis and distribute utilities consumption reports (both quantity and value).
  • Maintain a utilities monitoring record and flag any utilities that requires attention.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on maintenance requests, utilities and other activities in Engineering.

Facilities Coordinator

Reporting to the Hospital Engineer – Plant, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Contribute in planning and designing of buildings and other Hospital facilities, including optimal utilization of space
  • Assist in Project management, including scoping of customer requirements, translating them into a drawing, providing and costing bills of quantities, participating in tender process, bid analysis and assist in preparation of contracts
  • Advise on site preferences, contractor briefing/induction, site conditions, and approvals, providing guidance and support to contractors and managing contract costs (measurements and variations/cost control to minimize costs)
  • Maintain best practice engineering/building and works standards and ensure they are acceptable to the Hospital
  • Advise on construction materials and methods so as to meet expected standards and quality
  • Review, check and advice on contractors work plans to ensure that they are within reasonable timelines
  • Coordinate acquisition of permits, licenses and all necessary building approvals
  • Identify works / projects risks and create mitigations whilst ensuring applicable health and safety standards are maintained
  • Supervise facility projects,  refurbishment/upgrade activities and repair works and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality and allotted budgets
  • Inspect, and where necessary timeously manage Hospital facility repairs including drainage systems, water systems, furniture & fittings.
  • Collaborate and give input for implementation of three year multi annual maintenance plan for buildings and facilities for sustainability and proper planning
  • Provide regular reports and progress reports by use of engineering project planning and monitoring tools
  • Plan, prepare, attend and (where necessary) lead site meetings and inspections for Hospital building projects
  • Manage performance of outsourced contractors and provide reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Construction Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University
  • At least 5 years’ work experience in engineering and facility maintenance in an Hospital, Hotel, bank or other service organizations
  • Experience in maintaining facilities for an Hospital or service similar organizations
  • Proven Experience in Engineering projects, contract management and contractor supervision.
  • Conversant with local and international building standards
  • Computer knowledge in Microsoft programs, including MS Project

  • Ensure that all plant and machinery within the hospital are in a proper state to deliver safe and optimal output.
  • Implement effective planned preventative maintenance.

Assistant Engineer (Planning)

Reporting to the Head, Support Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Ensure compliance with The Nairobi Hospital Engineering and Maintenance policies, procedures, processes and standards
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive database for all Hospital equipment and facilities
  • Ensure all newly purchased or placed equipment are included in the maintenance database
  • Jointly with the relevant functional engineer, review equipment manufacturer recommendation, equipment failure patterns and target performance, and set appropriate service intervals.
  • Plan and schedule maintenance activities for Hospital equipment, plant machinery. Develop and implement a three year rolling maintenance plan for buildings and facilities
  • Monitor and follow up implementation of the planned preventive maintenance activities and issue daily / weekly and monthly performance updates.
  • Develop cost and time estimates of planned maintenance work.
  • Continually improving planning, scheduling, purchasing, storing, data management and job reporting systems to increase planning effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with relevant functional engineers to schedule manpower and resources to deliver most optimal productivity and maintenance outcomes.
  • Liaise with procurement, stores, nursing and other users as well as other engineering colleagues on pertinent issues to optimize maintenance performance.

Reporting to the Head, Support Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Jointly with users, review and develop suitable specifications for required bio-medical equipment.
  • Create, update and maintain a comprehensive database for all biomedical Hospital equipment.
  • Design schedules for preventive maintenance and calibration of medical equipment and ensure they are incorporated into the preventive maintenance plans.
  • Provide technical input to users and procurement to assist selection of suppliers as may be required from time to time.    
  • Ensure partnerships and good working relationships with suppliers to deliver sustainable mutual gains for both the Hospital and the supplier organizations.
  • Prepare design drawings, specifications and other documents to ensure alignment with scope of work, Hospital standards, finishing standards and compliance with environment, fire and safety requirements.
  • Participate in the acquisition, installation and maintenance of medical equipment.
  • Train user department in handling medical equipment.

Reporting to the Medical Director, the successful candidates will be responsible for the following amongst others:
  • Provide leadership to the Radiology department.
  • Develop, maintain, review and implement radiology department policies and procedures that conform to current standards of radiology practice.
  • Prepare, plan and implement the radiology department’s budget.
  • Develop methods of coordination of radiology services with other patient services to ensure continuity of the patient care.
