Job Title: Investment Director 

Role Introduction:
Our client, a listed investment company in East Africa, seeks to engage and hire an Investment Director. 

The successful candidate will be tasked with the management of existing investments.
 
Role Profile
 
Reporting to the Managing Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
  • Portfolio management of existing investments across various sectors;
  • Supporting the Managing Director in executing and realising the commercial objectives of the company strategy across sectors;
  • Advising the Board Investment Committee on formulation of investment objectives for investee companies;
  • Overseeing and managing the end-to-end investment process of multiple projects and different stages of the development cycle;
  • Formulating winning strategies;
  • Negotiating and structuring investment transactions;
  • Monitoring the execution of the company’s commercial objectives in active developments projects / portfolio companies;
  • Interacting and maintaining good relationships with the Management of portfolio companies;
  • Driving timely value realization through third party equity investments and higher valuation and / or eventual exit;
  • Developing and managing a lean high performance team of junior analysts and associates to support the company’s day-to-day portfolio management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher with a strong analytical or business focus;
  • Possession of professional qualifications in CFA, CPA or ACCA;
  • Possession of an MBA or any other postgraduate qualification in a relevant field would be an added advantage;
  • Minimum Ten (10) years’ leadership experience;
  • Portfolio management of a private equity portfolio, preferably in Sub-Saharan Africa;
  • Extensive Board level experience;
  • Investment transactional experience including leading teams in end-to-end investment / fundraising / exit processes.
