RTI anticipates staffing the following expertise in long term job positions for donor funded Projects TUSOME. 


TUSOME Project is focused on curriculum support, teacher training and teaching material development to improve the quality of early grade instruction in formal and non-formal schools through a reading intervention.

Training Specialist (Education Program Specialist)

9 Positions – Nairobi, Machakos, Nakuru, Mombasa, Eldoret, Nanyuki, Kisumu, Garissa and Isiolo
 
The Education Program Specialist will have key technical responsibilities for Tusome Project, under the guidance of the Regional Education Program Specialist. 

S/he will have the responsibility of coordinating training of Curriculum Support Officers (CSOs), head teachers and teachers in the implementation of early grade literacy approaches within a designated regions. 

S/he will liaise with the government institutions and education officials and coordinate, supervise and support all aspects of training delivery and provide in-school support. 

S/he will be responsible for writing and disseminating training reports for their respective regions.

Required qualifications and experience:
  • Master’s Degree in education with 6 years of relevant experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a relevant field and 10 years of experience in developing teacher training curriculum and coordinating teacher training activities and inputs. 
  • Working experience in literacy at early grade and established working relation with government education officials is necessary. 
  • Proven ability as a facilitator / trainer and willingness to travel to support trainings in field sites is required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as strong presentation skills are necessary.
  • Candidates from the specified regions are preferred.
ICT Assistant (IT Assistant) 

Supporting Garissa and Isiolo Regions

1 Position
 
The ICT Assistant will be responsible for first level support and deployment management for all end users in the assigned regions across several counties. 

S/he will keep on top of new operating system (Android) releases, test mobile applications with new devices, review crash reports from mobile applications. 

The ICT Assistant will play a key role in RTI strategic education initiatives and must thrive under tight deadlines. 

S/he will develop and execute automated/manual test procedures, train the education officials’ in-charge of the programmes at the county level on how to use the android applications. 

S/he will also serve as the focal point of contact in the regions and will be responsible for ICT related communications. 

S/he will ensure that all software and hardware deployments are managed according to RTI policies, USAID regulations, standard operating procedures and good business practices. 

S/he will support hardware (laptops, routers, switches) and network users in use in Garissa and Isiolo offices.
 
Required qualifications and experience: 
  • A minimum of Diploma in Information Technology or related field with a minimum of five (5) years of technical support experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a relevant field and three (3) years of technical support . 
  • S/he will possess a record of successful large scale software and hardware installations, with a wide range of hardware including tablets and mobile phones. 
  • The suitable candidate will need to demonstrate experience of android operating system releases, experience in applications testing and executing automate/manual test procedures. 
  • Ability to train adults on how to use applications deployed. 
  • Good communication skills and familiarity with mobile tools (e.g. XCode, Android Debugger ADB). 
  • Candidates from the specified regions are preferred.
