Duma Works is recruiting a Field Monitoring Officer for one of our clients.
The hiring company is a
non-profit firm that deals with farm produce to ensure food security in Africa.
Location: Monthly Field visits (2-3 weeks field assessment + in-office
reporting)
Contract duration / type: 1 year
(100%) with annual extensions expected
Role and Responsibilities.
Objective 1: Lead monthly field assessments for assigned program(s)

Key activities &
responsibilities to achieve this objective:
- Monitoring
(Planning) – Understand project set and achieved milestones. Translate
Program work plan to individual monthly schedules. Review VBAs and NCs
monthly reports according to allocated network (Support from data
assistant and RC)
- Monitoring
(Communicate) – Constant communication with field staffs, VBAs and farmers
before, during and after field assessment.
- Logistics/Admin/Accounting
–following up with Country Manager through Accounting, to ensure that
request for facilitation for field movement
Objective 2: Collecting data, Data entry and analysis.

(Plan) – Use standard sampling protocol
- Reporting-
Continuous update of soft copy tracking systems (analysed data from
monitoring tool)

- Reporting-
Reports submitted to the program coordinator and updated in soft copy
tracking systems (stored data base with all FMO reports). Follow
standardised, consistent, updated and given procedure of FMO report with
accurate and verifiable data and analysis.
- Administration/Documentation-
Filing of reports and supporting documents in hard files and soft copies
for referencing according to project’s requirement. Provide
data/reports/updates as required for donor review/inspection.
Objective 4: Communication, Learning and Feedback

- Communication–
Develop monthly schedule relating to quarterly work plan
- Feedback and
Learning- Keep Country or Program Manager(s) proactively informed of
program priorities activities, successes and challenges in each assessment
along with planned activities/deadlines for their work planning/timely
collection of stories, photos, videos etc before, during and after.
- Translate
findings into constructive recommendations. Communicate the findings of
field monitoring with the relevant colleagues.
- Communicate
with the Communications Team and Reporting & Evaluations Team to share
lessons learned about successes and challenges in the field and potential
VBAs and farmers for success story collection

Village Based Advisors ensuring field assessment and feedback provided

Reporting Responsibilities

- Monthly MNCs,
NCs and VBAs reports
- Supporting
documentation for donors (with support of Program coordinator and
Reporting & Evaluation Coordinator) including target set per donor,
NCs, VBAs and achieved milestones reported to the company and donor.
- GIS report on
location of VBAs
- Log book (FMA
update on VBA review log sheet)
- Check list
table of reference/ Priority table of improvement

- Degree in
related fields
Skills and Experience

- Data entry and

- At least one
year experience (in the above skills)
- Pay attention

- MS Word &
Excel – intermediate+
- Ability to be
highly interactive and flexible hours at work
- Willingness to
travel within the Kenyan network for up to three weeks each month
- Must maintain
confidentiality and professionalism
- Ability to plan
own work and manage conflicting priorities.

- Must be able to
oversee and coordinate baseline surveys and rapid impact surveys for
