This
position will be based in Nairobi with frequent travel to project sites
throughout the country.
The
project portfolio includes; Church engagement, Food Security and Livelihoods
project including business development and community-managed saving-led
microfinance.
Position: Program Manager - Kenya Program

Purpose: The Projects Manager provides leadership and management of integrated programs that covers Church engagement, food security and livelihoods. The position holder is responsible for day to day technical and operational support to the projects.

He/She
will lead the efforts of the organization in; identifying communities and
programing opportunities, grant writing and implementation of projects
throughout their entire cycle, coordination of activities, management of
program staff and other resources as well as ongoing monitoring and
evaluation.
The position
will also take lead building in-country partner relationships including
assisting the CD in maintaining relationship with the local authorities and
other relevant stakeholders.
The
position reports directly to the Country Director.
Core
Responsibilities:
Program
Development:
- Identify
and design programming opportunities into viable projects/programs.
- Oversee
the effective set up and implementation and coordination of World
Concern’s projects in the project sites to reach target objectives.
- Monitor
and analyze the external environment particularly in relation to program
areas, and make recommendations as appropriate for interventions
- Explore
potential areas for collaboration and mobilize opportunities and resources
to co-create new programs with innovative solutions
- Represent
World Concern in relevant platforms and networks
- Ensure
effective monitoring & evaluation systems are in place to align with
World Concern objectives of shared learning, improved programming and
beneficiary accountability
- Manage
project implementation according to agreed deadlines and budget
- Backstopping
of project implementation by the project teams according to agreed
deadlines and budget
- Carry
out other project-related tasks as required and assigned, and any other
duties as can reasonably be asked from the position.
Fund
Raising:
- Identify
potential programing ideas/opportunities and convert them into clear,
concise proposals with corresponding budgets to increase program funding
base.
- Provide
well written, informative and timely reports on program activities.
- Ensure
all project activities are compliant with the donor requirements
- Be
in-charge of field donors visits
- Network
with and maintain good working relationships with government agencies,
NGO’s and other actors in the country to ensure collaboration and
acceptance of World Concern programs.
Program
Management:
- Ensure
all projects have approved annual work plans
- Track
program activities and guide the staff team towards achievement of the
program objectives.
- Ensure
donor reports are high quality, results based and timely.
- Ensure
project compliance and informative and timely activity and financial
reports that meet the laid down criteria.
- Monitor
the actual program and propose new activities to enhance the relevance,
effectiveness and efficiency.
- Identify
project staff needs, ensure job descriptions are identified, work with the
Country Director and to identify, recruit, orientate and manage staff to
support World Concern program.
- Manage
Program Team with particular emphasis on capacity building of staff
through mentoring and training
- Monitor
political and security situations in project areas and ensure appropriate
security procedures and measures are in place and being followed.
Financial
Management
- Responsible
for budgeting, monitoring and controlling program expenses in consultation
with the Country Director
- Ensure
there is value for money in all project activities and that project staff
are good stewards of the available resources
- Hold
staff accountable and ensure World Concern financial policies and
procedures are adhered to strictly
- Ensure
all projects are using updated Life of Grant (LOG) Framework
Required
Education, Skills & Experience:
- First
degree in related field (Business Administration, Agribusiness,
Agricultural Economics, project management etc.). Master’s degree is an
added advantage.
- A
minimum of 7 years previous experience in community development especially
among agro-pastoral communities.
- Experience
in designing and managing small scale enterprises and community–managed
microfinance projects.
- Proven
and successful experience in project design, program management and
development.
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills
- Experience
with research and writing, especially in regards to fund-raising, compiling
and analyzing financial reports, and grant-writing.
- Ability
to secure funds from donors.

periodic travel to project sites
- Field
travel can involve driving on bad roads.
- Some
additional travel to other regions may be required.
