Origination Merchant Job in Kenya

Position Title: Origination Merchant

Job Family / Sub-family: Commercial
 
Reports To (Title): Origination Manager

New Position or Replacement: New Position
 
Position Purpose: Generate revenue from producers by developing long term relationships in order to sell the full range of the company, services and solutions as well as originating grain from those same producers. 

The position will be based in the Nakuru  area and as the position is ‘in-the-field’ it is essential for the individual to have a driver’s license to visit producers on a daily basis. 
 
Principal Accountabilities
  • Advise producers on market trends and opportunities - 20%
  • Provides accurate inputs to crop forecasting model - 20%
  • Relationship and brand management in the agricultural industry - 20%
  • Manage supply chain logistics - 10%
  • Analysis and management of producer risk exposures within limits as defined under authority - 10%
  • Timely and accurate reporting of all transactions - 10%
  • Seeks additional revenue opportunities with producers
  • Ensures all contracts are properly administered and signed  - 10%
Essential Functions / Requirements
  • The job requires one to have a thorough understanding of the agricultural industry in  Kenya as well in depth knowledge of the production patterns and/or areas. 
  • The responsibility requires the incumbent to be well communicated with all industry stakeholders and be prepared to travel and ensure proper implementation of all agreed Cargill strategies/milestones.

  • An minimum of an agricultural degree and/or marketing or any management qualification . 
  • A technical background would be an added advantage
Experience
  • Vast experience in the agricultural marketing systems in Kenya
  • Knowledge of the various regulations governing agricultural production in Kenya   
Skills (applied knowledge and technical skills directly related to this position)
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical skills
