Position: Technician (Electrical / Mechanical)

Reports to: Team Leaders (Electrical / Mechanical)
 
Job Purpose: Responsible for the maintenance, installation, service and repair of generators.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Carry out the installation, testing and commissioning of generators;
  • Carry out generator lubrication services as per the scheduled and approved service contracts;
  • Carry out troubleshooting and fault diagnosis on generators;
  • Carry out site visits as and when requested by the Technical Service Manager;
  • Maintain the highest levels of customer service so as to enhance and create business relationships with existing and potential customers;
  • Continuously keep the Technical Service Manager informed of all issues/problems that may arise;
  • Ensure that all actions are considerate and compliant with the quality standards, health and safety standards and company standards;
  • Ensure spares or materials lists are compiled in good time for work assigned;
  • Ensure adequate hand tools are available to carry out duties assigned;
  • Carry out fault diagnosis and carry out forward planning on assigned work/projects ;
  • Ensure most economical and effective layout of electrical installations together with achieving high level of productivity in work assigned; and
  • Any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required qualifications and experience:
  • Minimum of a Diploma in Electromechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role in working with generators or high voltage power transmission.
  • Good ICT skills.
  • OR
  • Minimum of a Final Craft Certificate in Electrical engineering / Mechanical / Control Engineering
  • At least 8 years’ experience in a similar role working with generators or high voltage power transmission.
  • Good ICT skills.

Position: Team Leader (Mechanical)

Reports to: Technical Service Manager
 
Job Purpose: To guarantee the quality of mechanical repairs for the customers, in a timely manner, through efficient utilization of the mechanical team.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Receive and interrogate initial customer complaints and guide diagnosis for the other check points;
  • Carry out Port-PDI of all sets received in line with Manufacturer’s recommendations and file feedback reports within stipulated timelines. Customer-PDI to be done 100% prior to collection/delivery and similarly for Commissioning/Run-in report as per manufacturer’s requirements;
  • Develop the control checks and SOPs that will be needed to ensure quality work performance and train the electrical team to be able to deliver against such standards;
  • Design a check-list to allow for random after service/repair inspection for quality assurance audits;
  • Follow up repairs that may have been identified during initial customer complaints;
  • Ensure that job cards are opened and closed as per company guidelines and at all times a maximum of 25% of monthly billing is WIP. This calls for effective coordination with Parts department so as to ensure parts availability at all times;
  • Grow AMCs as a long term revenue stream with concerted efforts in making sure that at the time of commissioning, the service contract is availed to the client with emphasis on the need to service the generator well during warranty period; and
  • Any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required qualifications and experience:
  • Minimum of a Diploma in either Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience dealing with Cummins, Volvo, Cat and/or Doosan engines.
  • Must have a valid driving license with a minimum 5 years’ active driving experience.
  • Must be familiar with the use of computers and manufacturers’ IT systems for warranty, TBs, RM and MS Office.

  • Minimum of a MET III with 10 years’ relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Must have a valid driving license with a minimum 5 years’ active driving experience.

Position: Technical Service Manager

Job Purpose: Responsible for planning, leading and managing daily technical activities in order to ensure customer satisfaction and to meet set contractual quality, financial, cost and time targets.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Coordinate the Technical team so as to plan and manage daily maintenance, service, installation activities at customer sites and/or assigned team;
  • Ensure maintenance reliability and availability of the plant according to the terms in the contract;
  • Identify and actively seek to improve maintenance reliability and availability of the plants;
  • Ensure that the performance targets of the department are reached and continuously improved on;
  • Ensure that the condition of all generators and equipment is in accordance with all applicable guidelines and policies, and that corrective action is taken to correct any nonconformities;
  • Ensure that all work executed at plant and at customers’ premises is in compliance with required quality standards, health & safety standards, environmental standards, company standards and also conforms to the set customer site procedures and maintenance plan;
  • Preparation of reports, maintenance plans and budgets as instructed by the General Manager;
  • Implementation of contract management action plans, processes and guidelines;
  • Develop the maintenance working routines at the plant and at customers’ premises;
  • Maintain reasonable levels of consumable stock and tooling to ensure effective and efficient execution of service plans;
  • Train, coach and mentor the technical team for improved performance; and

Required qualifications and experience:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
  • Must have at least 5 to 8 years’ relevant experience working with heavy duty engines like Cummins, Volvo, Perkins and related engines.
  • Must be a registered or licensed mechanical / electrical engineer.

Position: Technical Sales Manager

Job Purpose: To manage the sales of Power Systems products and services so as to ensure consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning, deployment and management of sales personnel.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Identify objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings;
  • Identify active large projects (250 kVA and above), complete tenders and submit as required;
  • Provide power, installations and AMC solutions (turn-key) for these projects;
  • Negotiate tender and contract terms and conditions to meet both client and company needs;
  • Work closely with the consultants / engineers / contractors and determine their needs;
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients, through managing and interpreting their requirements;
  • Assist with the creation of bids and tenders for new clients from a technical perspective;
  • Provide pre-sales technical assistance and product education;
  • Conduct product training and produce support materials for the sales team as and when required;
  • Prepare reports for head office and principals and keep proper customer records;
  • Maintain pipeline of leads / potential new clients and search for new clients who might benefit from company products or services and maximise client potential in the greater East African regions;
  • Be prepared to travel within the East African region for business development activities;
  • Support marketing activities by attending relevant trade shows / conferences and other marketing events;
  • Attend tele-conferences and meetings with GE and AKSA when needed;

Position: Sales Executive, Power Systems Division

Job Purpose: To negotiate and close on sales of power systems and generators to customers.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Identify potential customers;
  • Maintain existing customers;
  • Attend to customers by understanding their needs and providing a suitable solution;
  • Providing technical advice to potential generator buyers;
  • Prepare proforma invoices (quotes) and obtain sales orders;
  • Prepare internal sales orders;
  • Customer follow ups through telephone calls and customer visits;
  • Prepare load assessment and site survey reports;
  • Attending to customers who visit premises to view generator products of interest and after-market support facilities;
  • Follow up on payments from customers;
  • Provide advice of after sales services; and
  • Any other related duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required qualifications and experience:

  • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience in sales.

Position: Sales Executive, Motor Division

Job Purpose: To develop and increase sales business by targeting suitable clients as well as negotiating and closing sales.
 
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Identify sales opportunities;
  • Build and maintain long client relationships with new and existing businesses;
  • Meet profit target and ensure sustainable growth;
  • Work and coordinate with other departments to ensure quality services required by customers are delivered;
  • Ensure that prospects are well managed and maintained throughout their entire life span;
  • Ensure that all procedures and documentation pertaining to any sales are duly completed;
  • Maintain an awareness of local market competition conditions and industry trends;
  • Visit prospects for unit sales;
  • Answer all phone calls and give out information as dictated by policy/procedure;
  • Track what prospects are saying about us and follow up after they have visited Simba Corp;
  • Communicate to prospects in person, over the telephone and/or in writing the available units, services available and terms of lease;
  • Compile and update listings of prospects;
  • Follow up on payments from customers; and
