Corporate Affairs Officer (Digital Media)

One (1) Position

Broad Function: Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for production of content for the entire digital media strategy, including the coordination and production of all content (text, photos, graphics and videos) for social media platforms, websites and online publications.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities
  • Implementing the social media strategy for KTDA.
  • Designing and managing all the company’s digital platforms, including online publications (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr, etc).
  • Developing and managing content for the company’s digital media platforms, including the websites.
  • Maintaining a consistent look and feel throughout the company’s websites.
  • Copy-editing and proofreading all web and digital media content.
  • Tracking, reporting and giving feedback on site metrics especially on social media.
  • Working with Corporate Affairs team to integrate the Group’s activities with the digital media platforms to enhance the corporate image.
  • Developing the digital platforms as integral parts of the Group’s internal and external communication as well as forums for employee and customer feedback.
  • Advising on the best use of online communications.
  • Designing corporate presentations to ensure brand consistency and quality.
  • Keeping abreast with emerging digital media technologies and deploying as appropriate
  • Providing editorial support to the communications team
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications / Competencies / Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Journalism, Communication, Information Science or a related field;
  • Two (2) years’ experience managing content and production for high-traffic websites;
  • Sound understanding of writing for the web and engaging online audiences;
  • Solid experience managing dynamic websites and knowledge of digital trends
  • Excellent editorial, communication and organizational skills;
  • Wide knowledge of a range of web applications and social media platforms;
  • Abilities with content management systems, image-editing software, Windows or Macintosh;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to respond flexibly to changing priorities;
  • Experience of external and internal communications in a busy environment;


Publication Coordinator

One (1) Position
Broad Function: Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Manager the successful candidate will serve as a key contact person and coordinator for assigned publication(s) in the company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinating production of company publications and ensuring  revisions and quality assurance;
  • Overseeing editorial schedules;
  • Coordinating distribution of press releases to media, photo shoots and reporter visits;
  • Liaising with contributors and others directly involved in the production;
  • Editing all elements for style, substance and organization.
  • Reorganizing texts to create consistency in grammar, format, and message, proofs and fact-checks all copy;
  • Providing editorial content for digital platforms (websites, social media, and other forms of online communication);
  • Lays out and designs the publications;
  • Writing, drafting, editing and submitting articles for final approval;
  • Organizing copy flow, coordinates multiple production schedules and printing deadlines;
  • Troubleshooting and remedying publications production issues;
  • Working closely with publishing, design and printing companies to ensure the publications are of expected quality and meet deadlines;
  • Participating in budget development;
  • Coordinating post-production activities;
  • Developing checklists for publication development as appropriate and maintaining a publications schedule;
  • Collating information for and compiling a range of publications for the company;
  • Preparing periodic publication reports for management.
Qualifications / Competencies / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication / Publishing / Journalism
  • Professional qualification Diploma in Communication / Publishing /Journalism will be an added advantage
  • Minimum Five (5) years of experience in similar environment;
  • Strong working knowledge of printing, publishing and/or graphic arts;
  • Proven command of editorial, grammatical, writing skills and techniques, especially copy editing, headline writing, proof-reading, photo editing and info-graphics creation;
  • Experience preferably in a busy media house or publishing firm;
  • Must demonstrate high integrity and ethical practice
  • Must demonstrate ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must be a team player who is able to work cordially in teams
  • Must demonstrate ability to multitask.
  • Should have ability to solve problems by applying relevant business knowledge

Principal Legal Officer

One (1) Position

Broad Function: 
Reporting to the Manager, Legal and Regulatory Affairs, the successful candidate will be responsible for management of contract administration for KTDA Holdings, its subsidiaries and managed factory companies.

Primary Duties / Responsibilities
  • Drawing of contracts, lease documents, loan agreements and other legal documents.
  • Ensuring that contracts, leases and legal documents have been prepared in the proper   manner and that the relevant registers are updated.
  • Maintaining records of contracts, leases, loan agreements and the covenants therein.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents and contracts.
  • Providing timely information on renewals or termination of agreements.
  • Liaising with external lawyers on legal matters for and against the Group Companies.
  • Taking minutes for KTDA Holdings’ subsidiaries and committee meetings.
  • Facilitate conveyancing transactions involving purchase or sale of land by KTDA Group and Factory Companies;
  • Participate in the co-ordination and preparation of legal opinions to the KTDA Group and Factory Companies;
  • Assist in negotiation, review and drafting of documentation for business transactions;
  • Participate in the co-ordination and preparation of legal opinions to the KTDA Group and Factory Companies
  • Monitor and report on compliance risk
  • Supervise Legal Assistants
  • Performing any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Qualifications / Competencies / Experience
  • Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree from a recognized university;
  • A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law
  • Registered advocate of the High Court of Kenya – Six (6) years standing;
  • Certified Public Secretary (CPS (K)
  • Current Practicing certificate
  • Demonstrate good grasp of Commercial law, the Constitution of Kenya and other relevant national laws;
  • Should have thorough knowledge of the tea industry and agricultural sector as well as knowledge of regulatory requirements affecting the sector;
  • Exposure to IT packages
  • High levels of integrity and confidentiality
