Position: Finance Manager - Mobile Financial Services
(MFS)

Role Purpose: Reporting to the CFO with strong ties to the MFS Business Unit, the Finance Manager - MFS will be the finance expert on Internal controls related to MFS.
Role Purpose: Reporting to the CFO with strong ties to the MFS Business Unit, the Finance Manager - MFS will be the finance expert on Internal controls related to MFS.
In
addition, they will oversee and be responsible for the accuracy and the
completeness of all MFS transactions (MFS systems and bank transactions), the
management and statutory reporting for the MFS division, and all MFS
reconciliations (including bank reconciliations)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Define
and manage relevant processes and internal controls pertaining to MFS
Ensure
timely and accurate production of:
- monthly
management reports
- monthly
statutory accounts
- monthly
financial schedules, including (amongst other things):
1.
Revenues & Financial Performance
2.
Commissions paid and received
3.
Aged analysis of deposits
4.
Cash balances movement
5.
Agent Deposits
6.
Provision for Expenses, etc.
7.
Daily MFS and bank reconciliations
Ensure
that relevant taxes are calculated and paid on time
Monitor
agents’ float accounts to ensure that they are within allowed limits
Ensure
that all agent withdrawals requests are processed and approved as per the bank
mandates and taken to the bank for processing
Review
bank reconciliations daily to ensure that all the banking transactions have
been uploaded into the MFS system
Train
relevant stakeholders/agents on how to access various reports in the MFS system
Oversee
and manage the MFS finance team to execute key responsibilities including:
- Ensuring
that the cash held within the MFS bank account is accurately reflected
within the MFS system
- transferring
and allocation of agent float and performing agent Electronic Funds
Transfer (EFTs), float reconciliation
- Payout
of commissions and Processing internal business and MFS biller payments
Academic
/ Professional Qualifications
- Degree
in commerce or accounting
- 5
years’ experience in finance role
- Qualified
Accountant CPA (K)
- Experience
in a bank and cash/treasury environment will be an advantage
- Experience
in the mobile telecommunications sector would be considered a valuable
asset
