Job Title: Workshop Supervisor

Reports to: Workshop Manager
 
Supervises: Workshop Team

Location: Eldoret

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in streamlining workshop operations while ensuring standards of operation and compliance to legal requirements,
  • Supervise employees in the workshop and provide leadership and training to all workshop staff,
  • Review job card orders so as to ensure that all actions have been documented and acted upon accordingly within the time specified,
  • Ensure all equipments and tools are clean and safe to operate on a daily basis,
  • Ensure that a safe and clean working environment is maintained at all times in the workshop,
  • Report all equipment and machine breakdown to the workshop manager,
  • Instruct/assist workshop team to undertake particular work assignments,
  • Assist in completing documentation required by customers/suppliers,
  • Conduct a roll call every morning and ensure the master roll is updated,
  • Organize and chair tool box meetings, prepare and circulate minutes to all concerned parties,
  • Assist the SHEQ officer in handling safety related issues especially driver violations,
  • Assist the SHEQ Officer in monitoring truck movement in order to issue warning letters for night driving or over-speeding to drivers,
  • Maintain proper truck maintenance records for all vehicles,
  • In case of accidents, assist the SHEQ officer in investigations and compiling accident reports,
  • Maintain truck incident records,
  • Ensure cost effective procurement of spare parts and maintain accurate inventory records for the same,
  • Vet spare parts suppliers and ensure spares supplied are of high quality,
  • Prepare workshop procedures and work instructions for activities in the yard,
  • Ensure that health and safety procedure and developed and implemented,
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Management.
Person Specification
  • KCSE qualifications
  • Diploma certificate in automotive engineering or Grade I Mechanic certificate,
  • 5 years progressive work experience, two of which should be in a similar position preferably dealing with Mercedes Actros and Axor, Scania trucks,
  • MS Office knowledge,
  • Excellent report writing skills,
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken.
