Role
Overview: This
position, based in Nakuru, Kenya, is responsible for procuring raw materials
and supplies for the company’s animal feed facility and monitoring raw
materials and supplies in an effective manner to ensure that operations are
able to flow efficiently.
This
role is also responsible for overseeing material handling of raw materials and
warehousing and shipping of finished product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understanding
the animal feed production schedule and ensuring raw materials and
supplies are available to meet scheduled production
- Purchasing
raw materials and supplies that are not provided by joint venture partner
and coordinating with finance to ensure timely payment of suppliers
- Verifying
raw materials have passed company lab tests to be released to operations,
overseeing material handling needs to move these materials to production,
and recording quantities received
- Verifying
finished product has passed company lab tests for release, overseeing
material handling needs to move product to the warehouse, and maintaining
finished product records and inventory levels
- Ensuring
finished product is stored in appropriate conditions, managing finished
product inventory levels to meet customer requirements, and allocating
stock to minimize aged inventory
- Managing
the shipping methods, costs, and schedules for outbound finished product
and coordinating daily warehouse operations to achieve timely shipments
and order completion
- Managing
the compliance to safety, regulatory, and company procedures, as they
relate to procurement, transportation, and warehousing/storage
Person
specifications;-
- Higher
diploma in related field of study required; Bachelor’s degree in
procurement, logistics, inventory management, or related field of study
highly preferred
- 8+
years related experience in inventory management, procurement, logistics,
customer service, and/or warehouse management in a manufacturing
environment, preferably within a feed or food facility
- Prior
supervisory experience beneficial, but not required
- Familiarity
with SAP strongly preferred
- A
mature person with a self-driven disposition and high levels of
responsibility;
- Strong
communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Self-motivated
with high accountability and ability to make sound decisions with minimal
supervision
- Excellent
organizational skills and ability to work in a fast paced environment
where quick decision making and managing of multiple priorities is
required
- Financial
and mathematical accumen
- Demonstrated
computer skills in Microsoft suite of products (Outlook, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint)
- Language
skills: fluent in verbal and written English and Kiswahili
- Ability
to establish and maintain good client relationships, both internally and
externally at all levels;
- Good
team player skills as well as the ability to communicate clearly and
courteously to all internal and external stakeholders;
- Self-driven
and able to work independently with minimum supervision;
