HR Manager Job in Kenya

Great Lakes University of Kisumu is a private chartered university offering degree programs in various disciplines including Health Sciences, Community Health Programs, Humanity and Agribusiness among others.  

The University is looking for highly motivated, qualified, experienced and reputable team player to fill the position of Human Resources Manager

Job Grade 7
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with various departments, increasingly in a consultancy role, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures.
  • Promote equity and diversity as part of the culture of the organization.
  • Liaise with a wide range of people involved in policy areas such as staff performance and health and safety.
  • Recruit and train staff – this includes developing job descriptions and person specifications, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlist, interviewing and selecting candidates;
  • Advise on pay and other remuneration issues, including promotion and benefits.
  • Undertake regular salary reviews;
  • Negotiate with staff and their representatives (for example, trade union officials) on issues relating to pay and conditions.
  • Develop retention strategies for all levels of employees.
  • Deal with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures.
Qualifications

The successful candidate should have /be:
  • A Master degree in Human Resource Management or related area.
  • At least 3 years of professional work experience as Human Resources Manager in a large organization.
  • Should have excellent communication skills both orally and in writing
  • Should demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Should have good IT skills
  • Should be creative and show ability to prioritize and plan effectively.
