Vacancy: Geographical Expansion Assistant
 
Job Summary: Solar Kiosk is looking tot engage a Geographical Expansion Assistant, (GEA), will assist in the development of geographical expansion strategies on a regional and national level. 

S/he will be responsible for assisting in identifying potential outlet locations by gathering all relevant data from available sources, i.e. from the internet, statistical/census offices, private companies, NGOs and government sources on national, regional and community level, and from survey work on the ground. 


S/he will also assist in liaising with all relevant parties accordingly in order to establish positive relationships.

This position will require regular travel regularly into remote locations to conduct surveys of pre-selected locations, measure suitability of potential locations and quality of infrastructure, and to do baseline studies for impact measurement.

Duties, Responsibilities, Major Tasks & Process Ownership

Pre-identification, survey and assessment of potential kiosk locations
  • Assist in pre-identifying potential kiosk locations using google maps, information from county and sub-county officials and other existing information as directed by the GEM
  • Participate in drive through of pre-identified locations to determine which are worthy of survey
  • Do location surveys including photos as needed
  • Prepare soft copy surveys and submit them to the GEM as potential kiosk locations
Site identification, survey and lease negotiation
  • Assist in identifying and surveying potential sites within approved locations, with photos
  • Assist in obtaining contacts for plot owners of potential sites,
  • In coordination with the GEM, present selected plots to the steering committee for review and approval
Reporting
  • Report regularly and ad-hoc to the supervisor, as requested.
Other
  • Other projects and tasks as assigned by the GEM
Minimum Qualifications & Critical Skills

Minimum education, diploma and licenses
  • Educated to diploma / degree level, preferably in Business Administration or similar/related subject
Critical competencies and experience
  • 1 year relevant full-time work experience in business development, field based research and/or community development.
  • Fluent Swahili and English with good writing skills; command of other local languages preferred
  • Proficient with standard office software, (incl. MS Word and MS Excel or equivalent), and internet research
  • Valid driving license and experience driving in various road conditions
  • Very strong interviewing, investigational, and evaluative skill
