Context: Under the technical
supervision of the Regional Health Assessments Coordinator for Sub-Saharan

Center, the incumbent will work closely with government counterparts and partner
agencies to develop and implement components of the MRF Nairobi Migrant Health
Programme, with geographical focus on Kenya.
The
incumbent is assigned to different MHD Units in Nairobi such as – MHAC, UK
Tuberculosis Program in Nairobi Hospital (UKTB), and the Transit Center (TC)
and other locations within Nairobi as may be identified.
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Perform
registration and daily observed Tuberculosis (TB) treatment for all TB
patients at the IOM Migration Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Nairobi as per
set procedures and consistent with the National TB program.
- Support
the daily running of the IOM DOT Clinic in Nairobi.
- Assist
in the timely follow up of tests and examinations for all patients on TB
treatment in Nairobi.
- Maintain
and update the TB treatment work up Module on MiMOSA for all TB cases in
Nairobi.
- Authenticates
the identity of patients prior to administration of treatment.
- Record
treatment in the necessary records and reporting tools including the TB4
register.
- In
coordination with the TB Unit In-Charge, requests and re-stocks required
medical supplies and drugs and medicines.
- Monitors
and reports expiration dates of drugs and medicines including the
emergency kit and refers to TB Unit In-Charge for disposal.
- Compiles
medical records, files, charts, X-ray films, laboratory results prior to
Monthly clinical review of patients on TB treatment and prepares, install
or sterilizes medical equipment needed for medical examination.
- Takes
vital signs, weight, visual acuity and perform color discrimination
testing prior to monthly clinical review of patients on TB treatment.
- Maintains
confidentiality of information and collaborative relationship with
patients, partners and health professionals.
- Maintain
an updated consolidated excel sheet summary of all Tb cases in Kenya.
- In
liaison with TB Unit In-charge, perform contact evaluation and defaulter
tracing of all TB patients in the IOM DOT Clinic in Nairobi.
- In
liaison with the TB Unit In-Charge, allocate weight based treatment
regimens ensuring appropriate regimens and dosages are administered in
accordance to laid down Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in IOM and
consistent with the National TB Program guidelines.
- Help
in filling out treatment completion certificates at the end of each patient’s
treatment
- Ensure
general cleanliness of the TB DOT Clinic.
- Support
MHAC activities as and when needed or requested.
- Assist
in medical escort duties when needed or requested.
- Perform
other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Diploma
in Nursing and registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya as a
Registered Nurse with 2 years of relevant work experience or High-school
Degree with four years of relevant work experience
Experience
- Experience
in clinical work.
- At
least three years in handling and following up medical documents as a
senior staff.
- Proven
ability to coordinate work of others, within and outside IOM.
- Work
experience in an international organization preferred.
- Supervisory
experience preferred.
- Training
and experience in TB, STDs, HIV/AIDS counseling and other communicable
diseases is considered asset.
- Working
knowledge of Mimosa and other medical database systems.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Keeping
regular checks on status of medical forms transmitted to Panel Physicians
or IOM Offices in close co-ordination with the Head of Mobile and Follow
up unit and the Chief Nurse.
- Serving
as focal point for all enquiries (outside MHAC Nairobi) regarding medical
document status of USRP, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and other
countries’ cases. In the locations where IOM MHD team is not present,
ensures smooth transmission of medical forms and follow ups.
- Assist
in coordinating activities of the medical staff assigned to the Mobile and
Planning unit to ensure all procedures are followed as per the MHD
protocol.
- In
coordination with the data processing staff assigned to the unit /
department, update MiMOSA on continuous basis.
- Management
of the on-hold files in the unit to ensure timely completion and
transmission of file. This will involve follow up with laboratory staff,
IOM doctors, panel physicians and other consultants to ensure
results/reports are received on time.
- Reception
of medical deferrals/furtherance and other requests from JVA, High
Commissions, and other agencies. Distribution of the same to IOM doctors
and panel physicians in Kenya and the region. Updating MIMOSA with
additional requests.
- In
coordination with MHDs in the region and Panel physicians, gather
information on medical holds for USRP, Australia and Canada cases. Support
preparation of relevant statistics of the unit in coordination with the
data processing staff.
- Participate
in health assessment missions in the region and assist during mission
preparations.

any other related duties as may be assigned by the Chief Nurse and Head of
Mobile and Planning Follow-up Unit.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
- Performs
routine clinical tasks required by the Migration Health Physician during
Migration Health Assessments, in particular: taking and recording medical
history, performing anthropometrics, visual acuity and vital signs
measurements.
- Compiles
medical records, files, charts, X-ray films, decoded laboratory results
prior to physical examination for doctor’s use.
- Authenticates
the identity of refugee/migrant, as may be requested, prior to clinical or
radiology examinations.
- Assists
and provides directions to clients of medical facilities – i.e.: doctor’s
office, lab, radiology offices.
- As
a duty Nurse, triage, coordinates work and ensure client flow during
physical examination
- Assists
the MHP during actual physical examinations.
- Administers
prescriptions/recommendations ordered by the Migration Health Physicians,
including application of appropriate treatment.
- Prepares,
install or sterilizes medical equipment needed for medical examination.
- Monitors
and reports expiration dates of drugs and medicines and refers to the
Pharmacist for disposal.
- Performs
pre-departure medical checks, surveillance and administers treatment,
including vaccination jabs as required for travelling refugees/migrants
- Prepares
a report on therapeutic procedures administered to migrants, in accordance
with the requirements of resettlement countries
- Monitors
progress of medical cases and implements follow-up procedure; arrange
further examination and health counseling as may be required.
- Participates
in field missions, in out of duty stations and acts as nurse escort of
medical cases.

- Raising
Payment Coupons for additional tests/treatment as requested by the MHP.
- Administer
vaccinations to applicants according to the requirements/indications of
the respective resettlement countries and maintain cold chain.

the supervision of head of UKTB refers cases/applicants for additional TB
investigations and/or treatment and counseling when it is required

appropriate regimens and dosages are administered in accordance to laid
down Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in IOM and consistent with the
National TB Program guidelines.
- Ensure
timely follow up tests and examinations are done for all patients on TB
treatment in Nairobi and other locations by timely schedules and referrals
and guide other DOT administrators on appropriate timely follow ups.
- Technically
guide and help to establish, streamline and coordinate DOT TB Clinics in
other parts of the region.
- Train
the DOT administrators in all IOM DOT clinics in Kenya and the region on
DOT procedures including accurate and complete documentation and reporting
of TB clinic reports.
- Maintain
and update Mimosa treatment and work up module for the cases in Nairobi
and liaise with Daprofo for information and update of cases outside
Nairobi.
- Maintain
an updated consolidated excel sheet summary of all the TB cases in Kenya
and regions reporting cases to Nairobi TB unit.
- In
coordination with the Data Processing and follow up unit (Daprofo) provide
relevant periodic TB clinics related reports, both for IOM and the
National TB programmes.
- In
coordination with the Kenya Division of Leprosy, TB and Lung Disease
(DLTLD) organize for periodic TB related training and updates for other
DOT administrators in Kenya and recommend such appropriate DOT
administrators in the region.
- Perform
contact evaluation, contact management for all Tb contacts and defaulter
tracing for all TB patients in the IOM DOT Clinics and train/assist all
other DOT administrators on the principles and procedures for doing this,
within Kenya and the region.
- Co-ordinate
with Programme Support and Administration Unit (PSAU) and Procurement unit
in relation to purchases for the DOT Clinics including food items for
Nutritional support as well as purchase of Extra TB drugs not provided by
the division.
- Order
and collect TB drugs from the DLTLD and send back required drug usage and
stocks to them.
- Fill
out treatment completion certificates at the end of each patient’s
treatment.
- Maintenance
and confidentiality of information, collaborative relationship with
clients, partners and health professionals
- In
coordination with the Medical Officer In charge of TB, establish standard
TB DOT Clinics as per the IOM’s IPC guidelines.
- Support
MHAC activities as and when needed or requested.
- Assist
in medical escort duties when needed or requested.
- Perform

Required Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Degree
in Nursing and registration with the Nursing Council of Kenya as a
Registered Nurse with three years of relevant work experience or a
high-school diploma with five years of experience.
Experience
- Experience
in clinical work.
- At
least three years in handling and following up medical documents as a
senior staff.
- Proven
ability to coordinate work of others, within and outside IOM.
- Work
experience in an international organization preferred.

Context: Under the overall supervision of the Regional Health Assessments Coordinator for Sub-Saharan Africa and the direct supervision of the Head of Migration Health Assessment Center, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for the migration health assessment activities undertaken by the Migration Health Division.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1.
Perform migration health assessments (medical exams) and
completes related medical documentation of migrants referred for migration
health assessment in accordance with the resettlement countries’ technical
instructions and the IOM Migration Health Assessment Guidelines;
2.
Provide technical supervision and monitoring of IOM health
personnel to ensure that the following activities are performed in accordance
with the technical requirements of the resettlement countries such as: medical
case registration, migration health assessments, medical forms transmission,
medical treatment and follow-up programs, data processing and management,
pre-embarkation medical examination and report;
3.
Refer patients to specialists for treatment as maybe required;
4.
Administer treatment and immunizations as per the receiving
countries’ requirements;
5.
Perform pre-departure and pre-embarkation medical checks on all
refugee migrants departing under IOM auspices, making sure they are fit to
travel;
6.
Ensure timely, accurate and complete reporting of all activities
on the pre-departure (examinations, treatment, immunization), as per IOM
standards and as per the country of resettlement requirements;
7.
Implement quality control standards and ensures confidentiality
of individual health information;
8.
Assist in the analysis and technical elaboration of data
gathered from the migration health assessment;
9.
Coordinate with the local/national health authorities,
physicians, hospitals and laboratories, as needed;
10. Inform
and consult with the Regional Health Assessments Coordinator for Sub-Saharan
Africa and the Head, Migration Health Assessment Center on migration health
issues and proposes corrective and adjustment measures;
11. Assist
in the preparation, and implementation of research activities related to the
migration health, tuberculosis and sexually transmitted diseases;
12. Provide
healthcare advice to IOM staff in the sub-office;
13. Undertake
duty travel and medical escorting activities, be ready for relocation of duty
station to remote areas or refuge camps if needed.
