Assistant Executive Housekeeper Job in Nairobi, Kenya (70K)

Our client an International Hotel chain in Westlands is seeking to recruit an Assistant Executive Housekeeper

She/he MUST have a passion for housekeeping and laundry, and be willing to take on additional responsibilities to broaden experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of the housekeeping department.
  • Purchase, re-order and maintain housekeeping supplies and inventories.
  • Ensure inspection of 5 rooms on each floor & log in findings in an inspection sheet.
  • Carry out duty manager shifts within the hotel as and when required.
  • Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety & conduct in all hotel areas.
  • Ensure maintenance, repair and/or replacement of damaged housekeeping equipment.
  • Prepare, check and monitor departmental forecast and rota.
  • Control costs through correct stock usage, storage, purchase order systems & minimise wastage.
  • Ensure potential and actual hazards are immediately reported & rectified.
  • Monitor competitor & potential competitor products and services and communicate to management.
  • Schedule deep cleaning of all meeting rooms on periodic basis.
  • Ensure guest linen & staff uniforms are done timely & professionally and records kept.
  • Ensure laundry area & laundry machines are in working conditions.
  • Implement & maintain an effective and secure guest property lost/found system.
  • Be conversant with all departmental fire emergency procedures.
  • Prepare stock requisition, purchase other supplies & equipment.
  • Monitor par stock on all housekeeping guest supplies and linen.
Qualifications
  • Must have over 4 years experience with a minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory level.
  • Must have a degree/diploma in hotel management/ housekeeping & laundry management.
  • Must have working knowledge on Opera/Fidelio & materials control system.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Good leadership & people management skills.
  • Knowledge of a foreign language would be a plus.
  • Can work well under pressure & cope with tight deadlines.
Monthly gross salary: Ksh. 50,000 - 70,000/= plus service charge (Approx. 500 - 700 USD) depending on experience
