Finance Manager Job in Kenya

Our client is an e-payments company that enables and manages payments in the digital economy. 

They fill the space where banks can’t go, and replace cash with easy to use smart technologies. 

The company seeks to recruit a competent and experienced Finance Manager who will have the responsibilities stated below.

General Responsibilities: The incumbent will be expected to maintain and develop finance processes to ensure company funds are protected and records kept for internal and external audit purposes.  

The incumbent will also be responsible for operational improvements, annual budget process, periodic forecasting, and periodic analysis of business performance.

Key Duties
  • Maintain and develop accounting processes to ensure accounting system (SAGE) is kept upto date, cash and bank reconciliations and control account reconciliations are done on a regular timely basis and appropriately authorised.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure timely production of annual audited accounts in line with parent company requirements
  • Ensure timely preparation, authorization,filing and remittance of statutory payments.
  • Ensure that electronic money records are maintained for control and audit purposes to track and control production/issue and settlement of E-money
  • Ensuretrust account holding segregated funds is operated in  accordance with scheme rules and is reconciled on a timely basis
  • Ensure that any returns to regulator (Central Bank of Kenya) are prepared on an accurate and timely basis
  • Support parent company in production of reports, returns and claims to external project partners
  • Support General Manager in financial development analysis and appraisal of new projects.
  • Manage junior finance staff and ensure appropriate training and development is put in place.
  • Support wider business in improvement of working practices which are pragmatic but consistent with good financial control
  • Ensure new technological developments are accommodated within financial processes.

  • Have a flare for numbers, work well with people, aggressively anticipate impacts of workload/issues to team deadlines and have a very positive work attitude including willing to work some longer hours during peak periods.
  • Has great understanding of the payment and banking sector
  • High level of commercial skills
  • Very organized and highly analytical
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelors in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent.
  • CPA (K), and preferably registered with ICPAK, would be an added advantage
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role at reputable firm
