Under the overall guidance and supervision of the transport officer, the driver will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities with the delegated authority.
 

Responsibilities:
  • Driving office vehicles to transport SESG/UNSOS staff, UN staff, authorized personnel and visitors;
  • deliver/collect pouches, mail, documents; 
  • ensure daily maintenance of assigned vehicles including minor repairs arrangements and keep vehicle clean at all times; 
  • ensure vehicle is used in accordance to UN operation procedures; 
  • maintain logbook for daily mileage, fuel consumption, change oil and greasing and passenger names; 
  • ensure availability of required documents / supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration and log book, office directory, maps, first aid kit and spare parts;
  • other duties as required
Qualifications:                                            
 
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. A clean and valid license
 
Experience: Three year experience as a driver with a clean and safe driving record
 
Languages Skills: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post
advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required

Open Vacancy: Driver - GL2 / Individual Contractor

Candidates are to be evaluated for placement to a permanent roster of available individuals to be engages from time to time as operational needs require, for periods of service generally not exceeding six (6) continuous months at any one time.
 
Responsibilities:

Under supervision of Transport Officer the incumbent will provide the services of light vehicles:

Open Vacancy: Translator - International Consultant

Under the supervision of Chief Training Section, the incumbent will be required to liaise and coordinate with designated UNSOS / AMISOM Training Coordinators once deployed to translate / interpret a training activity.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Translate from English into French, Kirundi, Kiswahili and vice versa documents covering a broad range of training subjects dealt with by UNSOA for AMISOM Trainees; 
  • Translate from English into French and vice versa documents developed by OSESGL-GL, including for the meetings of the Technical Support Committee; 
  • Provide accurate and complete high quality consecutive and simultaneous interpretation into and or from (vice versa) for the following languages: English, French, Kiswahili and Kirundi as and when the need arises; 
  • May perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
 
Education: First level university degree is required. A relevant combination of academic qualification and experience is desirable
 
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) year experience in a professional position that involves translation and interpretation. Experience in simultaneous interpretation is preferable
 
Desirable: Able to work effectively in a multicultural environment and under pressure in difficult condition including Mogadishu, Somalia
 
Languages Skills: Fluency in spoken and written: English, French, Kiswahili & Kirundi

Open Vacancy: Fuel Assistant - GL5

Responsibilities:  

Under the supervision of the Chief Fuel Officer, the Fuel Assistant will perform the following duties: 
  • assist in timely planning, coordination and effective provision of ground fuel, aviation fuel and lubricants; 
  • keep computerized records of all received and issued POL products and enter information into fuel data base and MEFAS; 
  • review and analyze fuel returns and database records for correctness and discrepancies;
  • assist review and monitor existing requirement for POL products (for vehicles, aircraft, generators; 
  • Assist analyze POL product consumption pattern; 
  • ensure environmental policies are adhered to including fire and safety standards; 
  • ensure bulk fuel receipts undergo quality assurance checks-ensure daily testing of aviation and ground fuel; 
  • ensure morning and evening verification of fuel stocks, ensure strict accountability of all fuel stocks, daily functional/safety inspection of all equipment including containerized refueling station (CRS), fuel tanks, fuel pumps and fuel testing equipment;
  • ensures contractor’s fuel equipment is maintained and calibrated and records maintained; 
  • inspect fuel points on weekly basis; 
  • assist with the technical evaluation proposals; 
  • be a member of site board meeting for fuel site establishment and monitor mobilization and construction of sites; 
  • receive, process request for visa, F1 document, contractor’s ID card and book keeping; 
  • verify original invoices submitted by POL Supplier for payment; 
  • ensure all financial and procurement rules and regulations are adhered to when processing payments; 
  • liaise with procurement, contract management and finance sections to ensure timely settlement of invoices and recovery of funds where required; 
  • maintain accurate record of POL accounting data on electronic files, databases and on regular files; 
  • produce reports on status of outstanding requisitions, paid or outstanding invoices, payments and related details; 
  • manage incoming/outgoing correspondence, ensuring that correspondence is logged and appropriately delegated; 
  • perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
 
Education: Minimum of secondary education certificate
 
Experience: Five (5) year experience in fuel supply management
 
Languages Skills: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For the post
