Financial Reporting Accountant Job in Kenya

We are seeking a high calibre and results-oriented professional to create growth, capacity, and competitive advantage in our business in the capacity of Financial Reporting Accountant 

He/She must be self-driven, innovative, able to work with minimum supervision and a committed team player.
 
Duty station: Nairobi, Kenya.
 
Position Specification: Reporting to the Chief Accountant, the Financial Reporting Accountant will support financial decision-making information by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data. 

A detailed specification (duties) of this position will be to:-
  • Ensure that all general accounting activities are performed in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Accurately capture and report financial & performance activities of the assigned business units;
  • Assist with completing and maintaining proper documentation for all reporting processes in the assigned business units;
  • Review all processes and procedures aimed at driving continuous improvement;
  • Prepare monthly and other periodical reports by collecting data; analyzing and investigating variances; summarizing information and trends;
  • Provide financial advice based on the insights gathered on the condition of the business and application of financial principles and practices;
  • Oversee key areas of internal controls in accounting and reporting;
  • Ensure full compliance to IFRS and regulations, where applicable, for the assigned business units;
  • Assist in the management of investment funds of the assigned business units;
  • Participate in the annual audit process. Prepare all interim and year-end audit schedules and reports;
  • Assist with preparation of the annual business plan for the assigned business units;
  • Complete other reporting, accounting and analytical projects as assigned by Senior Management; and,
  • Carry out other duties as will be assigned from time to time.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of a well-recognized university, preferably in an Accounting / Finance field;
  • Qualified accountant (CPA/ACCA or their equivalent), preferably with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience in financial reporting;
  • Auditing experience, preferably 3 years’ experience from a ‘big 4’ firm;
  • Good working knowledge of IFRS accounting requirements;
  • Strong communication skills and excellent report writing abilities;
  • Insurance Accounting and reporting experience will be an added advantage;
  • Highly analytically minded and proactive.
