(AKES, K) is a non-profit service company, registered under the Companies Act,
and operates 11 private schools within Kenya, striving to provide affordable
quality education.
It is part of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of private development agencies established by His Highness the Aga Khan, the 49th hereditary Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismaili Muslims, to improve living conditions and opportunities for people of all faiths and origins in specific regions of the developing world.
Electrician (Site Supervisor)
Reporting to the Assets Manager, the
ideal candidate will have a track record of providing high quality supervisory
support to a technical team, cutting across Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing and
Welding Sections, among other supervisory assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Academic “O” level or equivalent;
- Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering
or accepted equivalent
- Electrician License C2.
- Computer literate;
- Health, safety, and environmental standard
awareness;
- 3-5 years’ experience.
Carpenter
Reporting to the Site Supervisor the
Carpenter will be an expert woodworker who will construct, erect, and repair
structures made from wood or other similar materials and related materials like
glass and ceramic tiles, among other carpentry assignments.
Minimum Qualifications
- Academic “O” level or equivalent;
- Government Trade Test Grade I Certificate in
carpentry or equivalent;
- Computer literate;
- Be a team player and have good interpersonal
skills.
- Health, safety, and environmental standard
awareness, especially in operating workshop equipment.
- 3-5 years’ experience.
Plumber
The plumber will assemble pipe
sections, tubing and fittings, use couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement,
plastic solvent, caulking, and/or soldering, brazing and welding equipment,
among other

Steel Welder
The Welder will be responsible for
various types of welding preparations, weld-finishing operations, manufacturing
product to drawing specifications or other forms of welding instructions.
Minimum qualifications
- Academic “O” level or equivalent;
- Government Trade Test Grade I certificate in
welding/fabrication or equivalent;
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret
engineering drawings.
- Health, safety, and environmental standards
awareness
- 3-5 years’ experience; one of which must be in
a mechanical workshop.
