Vacancy: Field Coordinator – Social Protection Services
 
Impact Research and Development Organization is a registered Kenyan NGO with a main office in Kisumu and regional offices in ten counties. 

IRDO’s principal mandate is to design, implement and evaluate HIV/AIDS research and intervention programs that improve the health status of individuals and local communities.  

We are looking for qualified and experienced personnel to fill in the following position within our DREAMS Program. 

The program seeks to provide most vulnerable adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) aged 15-24 years with core package of evidence-informed interventions most likely to impact HIV incidence, address risk behaviors for and transmission of HIV, and reduce gender-based violence in Siaya County. 

We are looking for qualified and experienced Field Coordinator – Social Protection Services to support the DREAMS Program, from February 2016.
 
Position: Field Coordinator – Social Protection Services
 
Job Summary: Oversee the provision of social protection activities and services including education subsidies, combination social-economic approaches, social asset building and cash-transfers to eligible beneficiaries (AGYW) enrolled in the program.
 
Reports to: The Program Coordinator - DREAMS
 
Location: Bondo Sub-county, with frequent field visits to other sub-counties within Siaya County
 
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Coordinate with the national and county governments’ Cash Transfer for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (CT-OVC) Program to provide cash transfer services to eligible households
  • Coordinate with the sub-grantee and ensure eligible AGYW receive education subsidies and remain in school
  • Provide on-going social protection technical assistance through trainings, mentorship and support to staff and sub-grantee staff working on the program.
  • Oversee capacity building initiatives for the beneficiaries on entrepreneurship skills, income generating activities, financial education, and group savings and loaning
  • Closely work with existing micro-finance institutions and effectively link beneficiaries to relevant institutions to access available credit facilities.
  • Work with Program Coordinator to oversee staff orientation, supervision, training, and performance.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports at required intervals; present at meetings and workshops.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must have at least a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or health related field
  • Possess at least 3 years’ relevant work experience in social protection and HIV/AIDS prevention programming.
  • Other competencies: Ability to multi-task; excellent writing and presentation skills; excellent communication skills and teamwork; can work long hours, including weekends and public holidays when necessary; proficient in Microsoft Office packages; experience with stakeholder management.
  • Experience of working in an OVC Program is an added advantage
