We seek to recruit an experienced, competent and self-motivated individual with excellent leadership skills, who will form the core team that will deliver on our strategic intent to fill the following position:

Chief Finance Officer (CFO)

Reports To: 
Group CEO

Overall Purpose: The purpose of this position is to coordinate financial management activities to maximize the strategic use of financial resources in the execution of the company’s strategic plan and to ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies.

Key Duties / Responsibilities

 
1. Company Budgeting & Strategy Process
  • Leading business budgeting discussions around Company’s business processes (budgets / forecasts capital projects, outlook);
  • Supporting all departments  in developing  their respective departmental / operating  budgets;
  • Ensuring action plans are in place to meet business commitments;
  • Providing strategic advice with regards to business initiatives and projects and assisting in the execution of business strategies;
  • Preparing presentations on the company’s periodic financial position to the Board of Directors;
  • Producing financial statements, reports and analysis to aid in decision making.
2. Finance Department
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are developed and up to-date in line with current best practices;
  • Providing financial leadership and reviewing financial performance;
  • Supervision  of the finance department staff;
  • Owning  and control of the complete balance sheet  and financial reports;
  • Ensuring that financial statements comply with the International Accounting standards and other regulatory requirements;
  • Preparation of accurate and timely Monthly Management Accounts for decision making;
  • Preparing other ad-hoc financial reports as requested by the Executive committees.
3. Liaison with Stakeholders
 
Liaising with regulators and third parties such as:
  • Kenya Revenue Authority, 
  • External Auditors, 
  • Financiers and Bankers,
  • Other relevant stakeholders, etc.
4. Risk Management
  • Designing and implementing internal control processes to safeguard the company's assets;
  • Overall identification of risks facing the business and implementing adequate risk management controls;
  • Driving consistent improvements in financial processes  and ensuring effective
  • management of costs across the business;
  • Ensuring timely and accurate reporting on costs/revenue by cost centre and ensuring;
  • Regular updating of forecasts in the light of changes in costs and revenue.
5. Funding
  • Working closely with senior management to develop and implement a funding and investment strategy for effective implementation of the business growth.
Key Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree in Business Administration majoring in Accounting/Finance from a recognized university or college.
  • Certified Public Accountancy qualifications (CPA-K or ACCA)
  • An MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Over 8 years’ experience in Financial Management in a large and similar organization.
  • Advanced knowledge and proven ability to use Microsoft Office software and accounting applications.

  • Professional and commercial approach to Accountancy and Finance with the ability to deliver on KPIs;
  • Excellent  communication skills honed in business partnering/ advisory roles;
  • Examples of adding value as both an individual contributor and active team member;
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the executive team;
  • Ability to represent the Finance function as part of the bigger business picture;
  • Confidence in directing finance and advising managers on all aspects of financial management;
  • General experience and understanding of management procedures and processes and ability to analyse and propose improvements in finance in relation to improved productivity;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work with no supervision while performing duties;
