Accounts Assistant Job in Kenya

Our client in the Manufacturing Industry is looking to hire an Accounts Assistant on a long term renewable contract basis. 

The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Accountant in handling the receivables and payables; while ensuring that the reporting timelines set are strictly adhered to.

The Accounts Assistant will specifically be responsible for the following:
  • Making hyper accounts collections;
  • Making batch reconciliations for raw materials and packaging materials;
  • Verifying returns;
  • Verifying returned invoices;
  • Preparing customer statements carrying out customer reconciliations;
  • Monitoring and posting of stock and doing stock checks through spot checks and stock-take: (50 percent of all stock must be counted weekly (Finished Goods Store and Packaging Store)
  • Scrutinizing the stocks invoiced, issued and dispatched on a daily basis;
  • Providing effective management accounting data to senior management;
  • Producing monthly variance analysis of revenue and expenses and breaking down variances;
  • Maintaining and reconciling various general ledger accounts; and
  • Any other duties not necessarily mentioned which are in line with the position of an Assistant Accountant.
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
  • Experience of over one (1) to two (2) years in executing accounting functions;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Ability to be adaptable and flexible;
  • Good time management skills;
  • Assertive and proactive;
  • Ability to generate reports and tabulate data;
  • Manufacturing Accounts background will be an added advantage;
  • Degree in Accounts/Finance or any relevant field;
  • CPA/KATC/ACCA certifications;
  • Knowledge in Audit processes; and
  • Knowledge in Accounting software – Sage/Pastel/QuickBooks/ERP.
