Child Protection Project Manager – Korogocho, Nairobi
Reporting to: Child Protection Programme Manager
Duty station: Korogocho, Nairobi County;
Contract duration: 12
months (with 3-month probation period)
Main responsibilities:
- To be responsible, under the supervision of
the Child Protection Programme Manager, for all aspects of the
implementation of the Child Protection project in Korogocho.
- To manage, mentor and train a team of CP
professionals and community workers.
- To coordinate with the project heads of
programme activities to ensure regular assessment of project needs and
adequate follow up of extremely vulnerable cases.
- To develop collaboration and participate in
coordination with the local authorities such as the Sub- County Children
Officer, the LAC’s, AAC’s, parents, operational partners, and services in
order to establish a proper child protection referral system.
Requirements:
- Minimum university degree in related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in projects
supporting children (social work, child protection, psychosocial,
education, etc.).
- Experience working in a low income community
context and knowledge of Behaviour Change techniques and approaches; or in
refugee settings and managing child protection in emergencies programs is
a plus (as applicable to area of work).
- Management of project funds
- Team management experience (5-10
subordinates).
- Project reporting and evaluation experience.
- Hands-on experience in training and mentorship
of staff
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili
Child Protection Psychosocial Counsellor – Kambioos Refugee Camp & Hagadera refugee
camp, Dadaab

Garissa County
Contract duration: Initially 3 months with probability of extension
based on performance and budget availability.
Main responsibilities:
Main responsibilities:
- To conduct individual and Group psychosocial
and mental health reviews of children and families living with the effects
and impacts of prolonged displacement.
- To provide psychosocial support to selected
vulnerable cases or cases in need of specialized psychosocial or mental
health intervention
- Participate in needs assessments and project
evaluations aiming at contributing to the development of the Child
Protection Programme’s strategy for the refugee community project in
Dadaab refugee complex
- To support the development of intervention
criteria for psychosocial cases and design appropriate technical responses
to psychosocial and mental health cases
- Provide training and supervising of CP staff,
and the Child Protection Committees on the management of children and
families with basic psychosocial and mental health concerns
- To train CP team members on child friendly
interviews techniques and implementation of a psychosocial assessment.
- Under supervision of the project manager,
coordinate work with the Child Protection Senior Officer, and the child
protection team leaders to coordinate assistance response to cases of
children in need of psychosocial interventions
- Establish and provide psychosocial and
resilience building activities for all children at existing Tdh facilities
or in the community
- Provide training of teachers on psychosocial
and mental health and support development of the safe school environment
through training and mentorship activities with teachers
- Develop networks for referral of high risk
cases and ensure regular follow-up of cases in need of additional
psychosocial and mental health needs
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor degree in psychology or
related field, clinical experience is a plus.
- Experience in use of community based
approaches/non-conventional methods for the management of psychosocial and
mental health issues
- Experience in application of
innovative/creative and evidence based psychosocial and mental health
interventions
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as child
psychologist or in child protection related positions with prominence in
psychosocial and mental health assignments.
- Experience in case management, and management
of case conferences.
- Project reporting and evaluation experience.
- Staff supervision experience.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to
communicate in Somali is a plus.
Child Protection Senior Officer – Kambioos Refugee Camp, Dadaab
1 Position
Reporting to: Child Protection Project Manager
Duty station: Dadaab, Garissa County
Contract duration: initially
3 months with possibility of extension based on performance and budget
availability.
Main responsibilities:
Main responsibilities:
- Daily coordination of case management
activities in Kambioos refugee camp.
- Management of the referral pathway ensuring
coordination with partners on referrals
- Supervision of Child protection Team Leaders
and the Database Officer
- Organize and facilitate periodic planning and
program review meetings
- Participate in management of complex or high
risk child protection cases including managing a limited number of cases
requiring specialized intervention
- Participate in family level interventions with
Social workers and tam leaders to more effectively manage outcomes of
interventions; including participation in selected follow-ups
- Review triages and guiding social workers in
determining best course of action in case management
- Supports the conduction of Community
Mobilization for child protection including work with Child Protection
Committees, Community and religious leaders; school based interventions
- Works closely with the Child Protection
Psychosocial Officer to identify high risk cases/children in distress for
psychosocial and mental health support
- Participate in needs assessments and project
evaluations aiming at contributing to the development of the Child
Protection Program strategy for the refugee community project in Dadaab
refugee complex.
- Organizing and conducting on-job training of
CP staff on case management (including BID).
- Organizing and conducting training for
partners.
- Organize and facilitate weekly internal case
conference meetings
- Represent Tdh at camp level case management
and coordination meetings.
- Develop field reports on a periodic basis.
- Support documentation activities in the
project by development of case studies and best practices from the field.
Requirements:
- Minimum bachelor degree in Sociology, Social
Work or related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in case
management.
- Experience in the Case Management Process and
knowledge of BID/BIA
- Experience in Mental Health and Psychosocial
support programming
- Team management experience.
- Project reporting and evaluation experience.
- Strong training experience required.
- Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Ability to
communicate in Somali is a plus.
- Good computer skills: MS Word and Excel.
