II. Vacant Position
 
Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academic, Enrolment Management and Student Affairs (DVC-AES)
 
III. Position Summary
 
The DVC-AES is the second highest ranking executive officer at KCA University. He/She reports to the Vice Chancellor, and acts for the VC when necessary. 

He/She is the executive officer responsible for implementing the strategic academic vision of the university; for the quality assurance of all academic programmes; and for student enrolment.
 
The DVC-AES will be dynamic and creative, strategic and visionary, with over 10 years of experience in senior management, including university management.
 
He/She will be expected to work collaboratively and effectively with the faculty, other staff, students and administrators, through consultative decision-making. 

The person will be a champion in promoting the University’s vision, mission and values, driving the provision of exceptional undergraduate, graduate and professional educational experiences; recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding faculty; engaging in strategic planning; enhancing both the academic and cultural experience at KCAU; and promoting student-centred scholarly and creative endeavours.

IV. Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1.    Serves as the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Enrolment Management Officer and Student Affairs Officer of the University; and as CEO in the absence of the Vice Chancellor;
2.    Acts as the Vice Chancellor’s Deputy, and assists the Vice Chancellor and other senior managers in achieving institutional goals and objectives as identified in the University’s Strategic Plan;
3.    Creates the annual Operational Plan for the Academic, Enrolment Management and Student Affairs leadership teams and supervises Associate DVCs in achieving priority institutional goals and objectives;
4.    Prepares the annual budget for the Academic, Enrolment Management and Student Affairs Division in line with the University’s strategic priorities;
5.    Ensures that the Academic, Enrolment Management and Student Affairs functions meet the requirements of the University’s accrediting and licensing agencies;
6.    Ensures that the University offers an inclusive environment that celebrates and promotes understanding and respect within a diverse student body, staff and community;
7.    Supports mutually beneficial partnerships between the University and business/industry, government institutions, non-for-profit organizations and other international educational institutions;
8.    In cooperation with the Academic and Student Affairs leadership team, proposes policies, subject to The Vice Chancellor’s and Council’s approval as needed, concerning all facets of academic and student affairs;
9.    Provides leadership in the incorporation of the latest instructional technologies to improve The student experience and learning;
10.  Works closely with the Directors to maintain compliance with the terms of contracts with employees;
11.  Prepares an annual report on the activities of the Academic Enrolment Management and Student Affairs areas;
12.  Carries out special assignments as requested by the Vice Chancellor.
V. Qualifications
 
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to facilitate an imaginative interdisciplinary and integrative approach to advancing academic and social needs, and will exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and an enthusiasm for leading the academic enrolment and student affairs program at a premier institution of higher learning, promoting its long term sustainability.

The candidate will hold an earned PhD doctorate degree or equivalent from accredited institution, and have substantial research and publications record that qualifies him or her for the rank of Professor or Associate Professor; and have at least ten years of academic leadership experience that includes a strong record of achievements.

Have a track record of scholarships as evidenced through publications and attractions of funding and supervision of postgraduate students.


Demonstrate evidence of outstanding ability to communicate effectively, posses excellent interpersonal and advocacy skills.

VI. Requirements
 
The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
1.    Clearance from Higher Education Loans Board (HELB);
2.    Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC);
3.    Clearance from Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and;
4.    Certificate of good conduct.

Distance Learning (DL) Support Specialist - Ruaraka Campus 

Job Objective:
 To facilitate Distance Learning functions by ensuring that the Department meets its obligations to stakeholders.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain accurate DL registration, continuous assessment and examination information in liaison with relevant departments.
  • Serve as liaison for DL staff and students seeking access to University support services.
  • Develop and maintain the operations and functions of a 24-hour DL Helpdesk
  • Act as the first point of contact for DL support services in coordination with the general University Helpdesk.
  • Develop and maintain the DL Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Develop and maintain DL databases, online forms, web resources and other electronic modes of information.
  • Maintain and update information on the DL webpage and social media accounts in liaison with the Instructional Designer and University Webmaster.
  • Serve with university student support services and technology –related committees as appropriate.
  • Any other related duties that may be assigned from time –to-time.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, BBIT or any other related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience in customer help desk activities
  • Knowledge and experience in project management will be an added advantage
  • MS. Office proficiency/Computer literacy/professional qualification in IT
  • 1 year experience with E-learning solutions
