Role Purpose: Under the general guidance of the IT Officer, The
IT Intern is responsible for providing L1 technical support and service desk
ticket management; Work with & support programs unit in developing,
updating and maintaining the Child Protection DB and related web resources;
Scope of Role:
Reports to: Regional IT Officer
Dimensions: Save the Children works in 8 countries in East
Africa (Kenya, Somalia, Uganda, Rwanda, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania and
Ethiopia) with a current staff complement of approximately 3500 staff and
current expenditure of approximately $200 million each year
Staff directly reporting to this
post: None
Key Areas of Accountability:
Manage Information Technology and
Computer Systems
- Serve as a point of contact for IT support
calls.
- Providing technical support to the IT users of
the organization;
- Ensures that the IT equipment are functioning
properly and escalates critical failures to the IT Officer;
- Assist to ensure calls are logged into JIRA
and resolving support calls logged through Service Desk system (JIRA) for
the regional office
- Cover for Regional IT Officer when he/she is
on leave or engaged with other assignments
- Install and configure new machines for users
- Serves as the direct contact for mobile data
devices including support & configuration
- Performs other related tasks as required.
- Report Internet downtimes to the ISP and
follows up to quick resolution

Qualifications and Experience
- Advanced Diploma or Degree in an area of
Information Technology (IT) or equivalent.
- Knowledge or basic skills in SharePoint and
web application development.
- Open attitude towards learning new systems is
desired
- Knowledge and experience in MS O365 server
administration and Windows client & server environments
- Having excellent proficiency in spoken and
written English with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability
to work with people from diverse cultures.
- Have commitment to work longer hours/weekends
whenever needed.
- Proven ability to work with & resolve
issues raised via help desk/call logging system
- Commitment to SCI’s values
