The bank seeks to recruit self-driven, focused and highly client focused individuals to fill the above role.

Job Purpose: Based in Nairobi, Kenya, the holder will ultimately be locally responsible for the Kenya Representative Office including, but not limited to, Revenues (including shadow revenues, referrals), Costs, Business Relationships, Employees, Company Reputation, Reporting (including call reports, regulatory reports, KPIs, KRIs), Compliance to Laws, Rules, Regulations, Policies and Procedures. 

 
The coverage area for the role will over 10 countries in Africa

Key Responsibilities
 

Customer Focus:     
 

Customer Relationship: Manage the Representative Office to deliver excellent service to develop and enhance meaningful relationships with both customers and local authorities
 

Reputation Safeguard: Contribute to develop and safeguard the bank’s image, reputation and strategic communication to continue to attract clients 
 

Product Distribution: Champion and promote products and services offered according to established customer service standards and identify/exploit business development opportunities to deepen the customer base and increase share of wallet. Focus should be on selling products generating the highest return for the Bank’s Shareholder

Internal business processes

Reporting:
 Develop and produce timely Call Reports, Deals in Pipeline reports, KPIs for the coverage area, Market Activity Reports, Project and Issues status report, SWOT Report and Rep Office Report.
 

Market Knowledge: Champion of market and regulatory knowledge (incl market risks) historical, current and forecasted for coverage area 

Office Administration/ Management:
 management of all administrative tasks for the good running of the office 

Projects and Issues Management:
 appropriately escalate and follow-up issues to closure to the relevant stakeholders

Financial focus

 
Strategy and Business Development: Contribute with Head Office Management to develop a business strategy and marketing plans for the Rep. Office over short, medium and long term 

Bottom Line, Profitability Objectives: Contribute in the definition of financial targets for the Rep. Office, ensure timely delivery of financial targets and shadow revenues 

Financial and Performance Reporting: If not provided, develop, obtain approval and produce a set of Monthly Key Performance Indicators and Key Risk Indicators, and quarterly financial reports that are in line with the relevant and latest IAS standards

Competency and Self Development: Ensure own competency levels are always above those required for this Job and remain above

Staff Competency and Self Development: Reinforce the team by empowering, coaching, motivating & managing performance of employees to achieve business targets

Headcount Management: Ensure that the headcount and its competency is always appropriate to the business requirements whilst working within the constraints of the Labour Law

Requirements
 
The ideal candidate will be in possession of the following:
  • Masters degree (or equivalent) in Finance
  • Relevant professional qualifications in Trade or Structures Finance.
  • High-calibre banking executive (C-Level) with 12+ years’ experience of Commercial or Corporate Banking in Africa.
  • Extensive experience in tier one international banks and a track record of change managing entities to follow good practice and best in class frameworks.
  • Entrepreneurial mind-set with track record in establishing business units from ground up (e.g. companies, Rep. Offices, Branches, Subsidiaries).
  • Technical / In-depth knowledge of all products and services offered by Corporate and Institutional Banking (incl. Structured Finance, Financial Institutions, Bank of Banks, Trade Finance, Corporate Finance, Global Banking), Retail Banking (incl Private Banking/ Wealth Management), Bank Cards, etc.
  • Understanding of socio-political and economic environment of international and local financial markets.
  • Well-developed business development, marketing and management skills.
  • Exude the physical grooming, language and decorum of a high calibre C-Level banking executive from a Tier 1 Investment and Private Bank.
  • Proficiency of the Banking Regulatory Framework.
