FUNZOKenya is a USAID funded,
IntraHealth International led project that aims to improve access to and
quality of health workforce training by supporting an increased number of new
health workers trained; supporting current health worker training needs;
strengthening the capacity of training institutions and strengthening
regulatory bodies to enhance training demand.
IntraHealth invites applications for
the following positions in FUNZOKenya project.
Senior Technical Advisor - Resource
Mobilization
Under the overall guidance of the
Deputy Chief of Party / Technical Director, the Senior Technical Advisor -
Resource Mobilization will designs and implements a strategic, result oriented
and coordinated approach to mobilization of resources from non-traditional
sources such as the private sector, foundations, high net worth individuals and
county governments to support the AFYA Elimu fund/Higher education loans
Boards(HELB) loans and scholarships program for health workers and
infrastructure expansion for health training institutions.
He/She will also be expected to
actively liaise with internal and external partners in the implementation of
the plan and ensure systematic and transparent reporting on fundraising and
related communication.
Essential Functions
- Develop and implement a resource mobilization
strategy for the project, establish targets and funding resources ensuring
direct link of the strategy to goals and activities
- Provide technical direction in the projects
resource mobilization activities across the result areas
- Maintain an updated database of current and
potential sources of funding and mobilize resources from private
individuals, corporations, county governments and other funding agencies
for Health Workforce training targeting Afya Elimu Fund and training
institutions
- Monitor resources allocated to Afya Elimu Fund
throughout the implementation and reporting cycle and share reports with
the financiers
- Work closely with Higher Education Loans Board
(HELB) and all key funders of the project
- Serve as the focal point person for resource
mobilization with Kenya Health Care Federation (KHF) who is the resource
partner for resource mobilization for the project under the private sector
- Lead and conduct market research to identify
opportunities for resource mobilization and stakeholders opinions and
practices.
- Establish and maintain collaborative
relationships with donors and relevant stakeholders in Global Health arena
- Organize events for partnership building
between implementers and potential partners
- Develop communication strategies for different
partners and stakeholders
Education & Experience
- A masters degree in Economics, Business
Development, Development studies or other related field.
- A minimum of 8 years working experience in
resource mobilization with international donors, GOK and other partners
- In-depth knowledge in designing and
structuring of public private partnerships
- Good exposure to use of various media
platforms such as print, electronic/online, and social media for
communication and brand building
- Good experience and working relationship with
partners & stakeholders

Assistant Director - Monitoring &
Evaluation
Working under the direction of the
Chief of Party, the Assistant Director Monitoring and Evaluation serves as the
project technical support in monitoring and evaluation of project
activities.
S/he will be responsible for
planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of FunzoKenya
project activities with a focus on human resources for health (HRH).
S/he will coordinate their work with
US-based support from the Chapel Hill Office.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership and technical input into
the project monitoring and evaluation, ensuring sound management of achievements
at output and outcome levels and generate analytical reports for program
decision making and knowledge management.
- Ensure implementation of a monitoring and
evaluation system that effectively tracks high quality outcomes and impact
- Lead the development/updating and
implementation of the project’s performance monitoring and evaluation plan
and M&E budget
- Lead data quality assessments and other
activities to ensure the accuracy and integrity of program data
- Support the process of developing and presenting
quarterly and annual project progress reports to the donor.
- Lead in the dissemination and utilization of
data to inform project operations and share lessons learned with a global
audience
- Oversee the collection of information and the
documentation of progress towards results for all project activities, in
collaboration with the program team and Evaluation Unit in Chapel Hill.
- Work closely with program and technical staff
in developing and implementing annual project work plans and indicators
for measurement
- Identify short-term technical assistance
needs. Develop scopes of work for these assignments, and arrange for
contracting and fielding of qualified consultants.
- Remain abreast of developments in the M&E
field, particularly with respect to assessing progress in Human Resources
for Health programs, PEPFAR, MNCH and other relevant fields of practice
- Working with headquarter program development,
assist is establishing log frames, M & E work plans and targets during
the drafting of donor project proposals
- Oversee the development of high quality
protocols in line with sound research methodologies and human subjects
protection, including sampling framework, survey tools, data management
system and data analysis
- Provide technical leadership in tools development,
facilitation of data collection and data flow within the project and
IntraHealth International
- Review and analyze weekly reports to identify
the cause of potential bottlenecks in project implementation and to
enhance quality of reporting
- Supervise the communications officer to
document the project achievements
- Contribute to the dissemination and
utilization of project results to inform project operations and share
lessons learned with a global audience
Education & Experience
- A masters degree in public health,
epidemiology, demographics, social sciences or other related field.
- A minimum of 10 years working experience in
monitoring , design and implementing programs in development field
preferably health and/Human Resources for Health.
- Possess applied skills in designing and
implementing assessment/research activities and formative or operations
research
- S/he must have strong writing and organization
skills for reporting on program and study results.
- Familiarity and experience with USAID/PEPFAR
reporting regulations and requirements
- Proficiency in statistical databases (SPSS,
EPI-info) and other software packages with strong data analysis
(quantitative and qualitative) and data management skills
- Good experience and working relationship with
partners & stakeholders in health system strengthening
