Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) is a State Corporation established in 1950 through an Act of Parliament CAP 363 of the Laws of Kenya with the objective of providing a ready market for livestock farmers and processing high quality meat and meat products for consumption in the domestic and export markets.

The mandate of the commission is to procure process and market high quality meat and meat products at the most competitive prices using efficient, effective and environmentally friendly systems to the satisfaction of customers and other stakeholders. 

We wish to recruit dynamic, innovative, self-driven and highly qualified individuals to fill the following positions to drive the Commission in achieving the said mandate and effectively supporting the Government in the realization of Vision 2030.
 
Chief Operations Officer

The Chief Operations Officer shall provide the leadership, management and vision necessary to ensure that the company has proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and related systems in place in order to ensure sound financial management and efficient operations of the Commission.

The Chief Operations Officer is responsible for the day to day general operations of the Commission. 

He/she reports directly to the Managing Commissioner who closely works with the Board to ensure that the Kenya Meat Commission, among other objectives, implement the commission strategic plan and the current turn-around plan in a bid to move it to higher and sustainable level in the Meat Industry.

Key Responsibilities
·                     Lead and oversee the day-to-day operations in all the departments’ i.e. production, marketing and sales, finance and administration, research and development
·                     Ensure consistency and standards across all revenue streams and service delivery elements of the business
·                     Advise the Managing Commissioner on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters
·                     Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual budget process
·                     Rapid expansion and growth of the business in terms of backwards and forward markets
·                     Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Managing Commissioner informed of all critical issues
·                     Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
·                     Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development
·                     Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign responsibilities, set objectives, establish priorities, and conduct annual performance appraisal.
·                     Responsible for the performance contracting processes
·                     Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures
·                     Improve administrative and operational services
Qualifications
·                     Business or Accounting degree mandatory, a master’s in business administration is preferred
·                     Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization is required more than specific professional discipline
·                     Qualified or possesses requisite experience in HR frameworks, production, financial management, marketing and operations
·                     Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior management position
·                     Financial reporting capabilities including budgeting and cash flow management
·                     Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills
·                     Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise
·                     Entrepreneurial skills and a team player who can multitask
·                     Superior management skills

Corporation Secretary

The Corporation Secretary is the secretary of the Board and is therefore responsible for accurate recording and keeping of all the Board minutes. 

He /she manages all litigation cases against the company and keep custody of important legal documents. 

He/she is responsible and reports to the Board, specifically offering advice and guidance on matters of law and governance to ensure K.M.C complies with standard financial and legal practice and maintains high standards of corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities
·                     Provides guidance to the Board on their duties and responsibilities and on matters of governance
·                     Advice management on legal matters relating to business operations and action on legal cases instituted against the corporation
·                     Keep custody of important legal documents including contractual documents and company seal
·                     Provide secretarial services to the Board, and to the management Committees of the corporation
·                     Draw procurement contracts and ensures that they comply with the laws and regulations, both local and international
·                     Identifies regulatory requirements and collaborate with other departmental heads to ensure enforcement of these requirements
·                     Represent the corporation in court cases
·                     Facilitate effective communication between the company and its stakeholders
·                     Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Managing Commissioner and the Board
Qualifications
·                     Bachelor of Laws degree from a reputable university
·                     Masters in Law or other relevant fields will be an added advantage
·                     Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
·                     A registered CPS (K) member of the Institute of Certified Public Secretaries of Kenya
·                     At least eight (8) years’ experience, five (5) of which must be at senior management level
·                     Strong management and negotiation skills
·                     Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
·                     Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Sales and Marketing Manager

The Sales and Marketing Manager will oversee the sales function and ensure set volumes and revenue targets are met. 

He/she will be responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs. 

He/she will report to the Chief Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities;
·                     Member of the senior management team and is therefore part of critical business decisions and strategy development
·                     Manage existing distributor relationships / customer accounts and develop new sales channels
·                     Ensure periodic sales and performance targets are achieved
·                     Manage the entire sales staff and coordinates the sales function.
·                     Develop and review marketing strategies
·                     Prepare sales annual plan and budget for managerial approval to improve operational efficiency
·                     Plan and coordinate sales events and promotional activities as well as networking with industry stakeholders to ensure customer satisfaction
·                     Champion the company’s brand identity and culture
·                     Ensure compliance with established standard policies and procedures
·                     Provide specific management reports and analysis
·                     Liaise with other departments to ensure availability of resources to achieve targets efficiently
·                     Manage credit collection and ensure debts are within credit policy
·                     Any other duties as may be assigned
Qualifications
·                     Bachelors of Commerce degree in Marketing or its equivalent
·                     Master’s degree in Sales & Marketing will be an added advantage
·                     Professional qualification in Sales & Marketing from a recognized institution
·                     Membership to a professional body such as Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK)
·                     Minimum of eight (8) years’ work experience in a senior management position preferably in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG)
·                     Ability to network and proven track record of closing sales and meeting sales targets.
·                     Extensive experience in an ERP environment, SAP experience will be an added advantage

Plant Engineer

The Plant Engineer will oversee all the daily operations of the plant and ensure continuous improvements and optimization of all processes. 

He/she will ensure that policies and procedures are followed to maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity by providing guidance for preventative and repair maintenance to ensure that plant operations are able to meet output quotas and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
·                     Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining quality standards
·                     Be responsible for production output and product quality to ensure effective return on assets
·                     Put in place measures to ensure factory safety and healthy working environment
·                     Minimize waste and constraints from production processes to improve efficiency and enhance productivity
·                     Attend to machine breakdown and supervising daily maintenance
·                     Ensure preventive maintenance is carried out periodically
·                     Manage workshop and stores efficiently
·                     Ensure timely replenishment of supplies and parts
·                     Maintain records and reporting on activities in the factory
·                     Estimate production costs and inform management of the estimated costs of any changes in product design
·                     Evaluate and implement cost-saving measures
·                     Determine the feasibility of production processes and staff needs
·                     Review existing production schedules and prioritize projects based on resources, appropriate technology and company requirements
·                     Promote the most efficient use of physical and human resource
·                     Any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
·                     Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
·                     Post Graduate qualification in Management from a recognized institution will be an added advantage
·                     Registered with Engineer’s Registration Board (ERB).
·                     Member of the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK)
·                     Must have six (6) years’ work experience in a busy FMCG manufacturing environment
·                     Working knowledge of an ERP will be an added advantage

Internal Auditor

The Internal Auditor is responsible for the timely execution of risk-based internal audits in accordance with the annual audit plan, as well as assisting with other audit matters and projects.

Key Responsibilities
·                     Advice the Board on internal control systems for effective Management
·                     Review the existing internal control systems
·                     Plan and develop a risk based audit plan
·                     Coordinate duties and responsibilities of the systems audit
·                     Oversee the day-to-day administration of the audit division
·                     Follow up on the implementation of internal and external audit recommendations
·                     Develop audit techniques and procedures for finance and comprehensive audit
·                     Carry out a review of accounting financial systems in conformity to international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and budgetary systems
·                     Verify accounting transactions to ensure compliance with the laid down procedures
·                     Verify Commission’s asset and liabilities
·                     Liaise with the external auditors for objective audits
·                     Carry out audit checks to ensure compliance in accordance with Internal Audit Act, PFMA and other relevant laws/regulations
Qualifications
·                     Bachelor of commerce (Accounting option )from a recognized university
·                     Certified Public Accountant (CPA K)or equivalent
·                     Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in audit
·                     Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team

Livestock Manager

The livestock manager will be responsible for:-
·                     Identifying areas to source livestock and supply of good quality livestock
·                     Monitoring prices in markets and advice management accordingly
·                     Identifying, assessing and engage suppliers of quality livestock to the Commission to ensure consistency
·                     Working with national and county veterinary officers on livestock movement and disease control
Qualifications
·                     Bachelor of Science degree in animal production/Animal science/Veterinary medicine or its equivalent from a recognised university
·                     Should have Served as a livestock officer on a similar position for a minimum period of six (6)years
·                     Demonstrate supervisory, administrative ability and work performance.

Supply Chain Manager

The supply chain Manager will be responsible for:-
·                     Managing the tendering and quotation process as well as contract Management,
·                     Participating in developing and reviewing procurement policies and procedures
·                     Identifying potential cost saving areas through competitive tendering and negotiations
·                     Ensuring suppliers meet pre-qualifications and comply with public procurement procedures.
·                     Leading, training and managing the supplies team towards delivering the required supplies.
·                     Managing the transaction approval processes and requisitions
·                     Reviewing requirements for materials especially for packaging
Qualifications
·                     Bachelors degree in purchasing and supplies Management, commerce, Economics, Business Administration or equivalent from a recognized university
·                     Diploma in purchasing and supplies Management obtained from CIPS, ISM or equivalent.
·                     Six years’ experience in a similar position
·                     Member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management

Human Resource Manager

The Human Resource Manager will be responsible for:- 
·                     Formulation and implementation of Human Resources Policies, strategies and evaluating their effectiveness
·                     Advising senior staff on areas of recruitment, transfers, pay, pension schemes
·                     Administering and processing of the payroll/ Human Resources database
·                     Advising on organizational and Human Resources planning issues and other matters, including staff career development , employee relations and disciplinary matters
·                     Ensuring effective staff recruitment
·                     Providing advice on strategies regarding training and development
·                     Developing and ensuring implementation of reward systems, remuneration policies and strategies
·                     Developing and ensuring effectiveness of performance Management systems
·                     Reviewing organizational structures and analyze workload from time to time
·                     Provide employees counselling services,
·                     Representing the Commission in labour disputes,
Qualifications
·                     A degree from a recognized University in Human Resources Management science, or any other relevant and related qualifications.
·                     MBA in Human Resources Management will be an added advantage
·                     Higher diploma in Human Resources Management
·                     Six Years (6)’ experience in a busy organization at a senior management position.
·                     A certificate of membership with a professional body in human resources
·                     Demonstrate good understanding of Human resource regulations and good practices
