Vacancy: Quality Assurance Officer


Level: KLB 6
 
Job Ref: HR–QA -5-015

He/ She will report to Quality Assurance Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Carry out quality checks of raw materials and other supplies delivered to KLB Stores;
  • Carry out quality checks in pre-press, press and bindery stages of book production;
  • Carry out quality checks on KLB’s books and those delivered by external printers before they are delivered to central warehouse;
  • Develop defective books’ reports and corrective action plan on monthly basis;
  • Carry out ISO internal audits and follow-up audits;
  • Post Internal and external audits to Q-pulse.
Requirements for appointment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences
  • Must have worked in the field of quality assurance for three (3) years
  • Possess knowledge of ISO Management systems and be computer literate
  • Possess good interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills and must be a good team player

Vacancy: Internal Auditor II

Level: KLB 6

He/ She will report to the Assistant Internal Audit Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Examine operational systems and procedures of the Bureau and ensure their effectiveness.
  • Pre-auditing of payment vouchers & imprest requisitions before they are processed and clearance of imprests to ensure validity and accuracy of expenditure.
  • Review/assess adherence to relevant government and other regulatory agencies’ laws and regulations and policies and procedures of KLB.
  • Assess the adequacy of internal controls, accounting and the propriety of financial transactions to ensure reliability and integrity of financial reporting / information and recommend improvements.
Requirements for Appointment
  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree (Accounting/Finance option) from a recognized institution; or Certified Public Accountants (CPA) finalist or its equivalent is an added advantage.
  • Must have worked in the field of internal Audit for three (3) years
  • Possession of CISA or CIA is an added advantage.
  • Possess communication skills, analytical skills, organizational skills and must be a team player

Vacancy: Editor (Two Posts)

Level: KLB 6
 
Job Ref: HR–ED -3-015

He/ She will report to the Chief Editor

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Source and induct authors and external readers to facilitate the production of manuscripts.
  • Evaluate unsolicited manuscripts to determine whether they satisfy the Bureau’s publishing requirements.
  • Undertake substantive copy editing of manuscripts to meet set standards.
  • Receive feedback from product users and monitor the performance and attributes of the competitor’s product to create competitive edge.
  • Participate in budget preparation for resource allocation and control.
  • Establish the source of copyrighted materials and prepare acknowledgements for illustrations and text used to fulfill acquisition requirements.
  • Co-ordinate the activities of typesetters, designers and illustrators and other suppliers to meet agreed production schedules.
Requirements for appointment
  • Bachelor of Education degree with the following teaching subjects: Kiswahili / Georgraphy / History
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication is an added advantage.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in teaching or book publishing in a reputable firm.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of DTP, technical knowledge in book production, copyright law, process mapping.
  • Communication skills, analytical skills, organizational skills and must be a team player

Vacancy: Brand Development Manager

Level: KLB 8

He/ she will report to the Sales and Marketing Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct market research analysis to guide product development decisions.
  • Monitor and evaluate market intelligence on consumer behavior and market trends.
  • Manage the new product development process in both print and digital formats.
  • Responsible for innovations and new brand offerings in both print and digital formats.
  • Support the Publishing, Production and Supply Chain in the process of product development.
  • In-charge of the product development team in achieving individual and team targets.
  • Implement the brand strategies
Requirements for Appointment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences and professional qualification in relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Possess research, analytical and marketing skills, be a team player
  • Clean driving license and at least three (3) years’ experience

Vacancy: Senior Business Development Officer
 
Level: KLB 8
 
Job Ref: HR–SBD-1-015

He/ She will report to the Business Development Manager

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in follow-up of business opportunities and partnerships to grow the County Segment
  • Maintain schedule of contacts of relevant County Government representatives.
  • Maintain records of executed contracts and Memorandum of Understanding.
  • Follow-up project implementation progress and ensure timely delivery and prompt payment of completed works.
  • Prepare monthly reports on Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) and county books sales.
  • Prepare monthly reports on post-secondary tertiary market share.
  • Prepare monthly reports on revenue and expenditures incurred by the department.
  • Prepare monthly reports on review of cost benefit analysis of county government activities
Requirements for appointment
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences
  • Must have three (3) years’ experience in the field of business development
  • Project management skills, good customer relations, analytical skills, organizational skills and must be a team player.
