Clinical Officer
The position: Access Afya is hiring a full time Clinical Officer
in Nairobi Kenya. The Clinical Officer will provide care to patients at both
Access Afya clinics, and work with the clinical team to maintain high clinical
standards and smooth running of the facilities.
Specific duties:
- Provide professional advice and medical
treatment for primary health care, general practice, and emergency
situations as dictated by prevailing protocols and scope of practice.
- Follow Access Afya and client protocols,
procedures and practices.
- Maintain clinic in accordance with Access Afya
and prevailing standards.
- Participate in community outreach programs
- Keep clear and accurate documentation using
electronic and paper records.
- Participate in decision-making and apply
management principles in day-to-day activities.
- Provide regular feedback to entire Access Afya
team on treatment, trends, challenges and ideas for improvement in service
delivery.
Desired qualifications:
- Current registration and license to practice
with the Clinical Officer’s Council.
- Innovative, dynamic, energetic, and
self-motivated
- At least 2 years experience working in a
quality care delivery setting
- Passion working with underserved communities.
- Strong interpersonal & communication
skills.
- Ability to work autonomously or in a team with
a high attention to detail.
- Excellent work ethic, proactive, punctual,
reliable and flexibility to work long hours when required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications,
and general computer & technology literacy.
- Familiarity with computer based health information
system and interest in heath technologies preferred.
- Willingness to work in isolated and
challenging environment.
- Ability to perform a range of minor surgeries
will be an advantage.

Pharmacy Technician
Job Summary: We are hiring a Pharmacy Technician who will be
responsible for managing medication distribution within Access Afya clinics and
provide drug information and education to patients.
He/she should have complete
understanding and appreciation for the use and side effects of prescription and
non-prescription drugs used to treat common disease states.
He/She must demonstrate ethical
conduct and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Label and dispense prescribed medicines and
provide information and advise to patients about how to use their
medicines
- Support the clinical team in performing final
accuracy checks on dispensed medicines, immediately before they are handed
out and provide dispensing training to the team as needed in order to
ensure compliance with governing bodies
- Advise members of the community about over the
counter medicines, the management of minor ailments and healthy lifestyles
- Responsible for selling over the counter
medicines and other items stocked by the pharmacy, such as cosmetics,
toiletries and overall consumables
- Responsible for ordering, labeling and
counting stock of medications, chemicals and supplies, and enter inventory
data in the computer
- Responsible for receiving and storing incoming
supplies, verifying quantities against invoices and informing the Medical
Director of stock needs and shortages
- Accountable for maintaining knowledge and
staying abreast of all the changes that occur in the Pharmaceutical field
Access Afya’s micro-clinics are lean
and compact spaces. In addition to running our lab, you will be interacting
with the community and our patients. This includes:
- Welcoming and registering clients as they walk
in.
- Assisting when necessary with patient
follow-up calls and coordination.
- Participate in outreach events in the
community.
- Talk to patients and communicate their wants,
needs, compliments, and complaints to the whole Access Afya team.
Skills and Experience
- Computer Literacy
- Diploma or degree in Pharmaceutical Technology
- Proficient in Supply chain management and
Pharmacy operations
