Co-op Consultancy, on behalf of one of our clients (a new medium sized Sacco in Nairobi) urgently wishes to recruit suitably qualified and experienced individuals in the following position;

Accounts Officer

1 Position

Job Purpose: 
The position will to examine and prepare financial information, records and reports to enable the Organization run in the most efficient and profitable manner, as well as undertake financial reporting to all stakeholders as required.  

Main duties and responsibilities
  • Oversee all financial activities ensuring they are timely, accurate and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with financial, risk and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure all financial activities are compliant with statutory and legal requirements.
  • Prepare all supporting information for annual audits and liaise with the Board and the external auditors as required.
  • Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
  • Develop and maintain financial controls and financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
  • Undertake reconciliations on required accounts.
  • Ensure storage and back-up of all information through.
  • Manage and advise on financial investments and monthly cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts.
  • Ensure effective and accurate bookkeeping and storage of personnel and financial information.
  • Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
  • Assist the General Manager and the Board Treasurer with financial reporting as required at Board meetings and the Annual General Meeting.
  • Oversee all payroll functions to ensure that employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Negotiate and manage the employee insurance and benefits plans.
  • Timely and accurate processing and submission of statutory and benefits remittances.
  • Assist in establishing guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and in preparation of the annual budget. 
  • Provide assistance to the persons responsible for preparing budgets for funding applications.
  • Develop and oversee implementation of a strategic and operational plan for the Accounts department, ensuring it conforms withthe overall mission and strategic goals. 
  • Ensure Insurance coverage (institutional, staff and board) as specified by the Board, is in place.
  • Advise on income generating activities and financial services available to the Organization.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
  • KCSE C+ or its equivalent.
  • Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • Diploma in Finance or a related field will be an added advantage.
  • CPA II or ACCA II.
  • 2 years relevant experience in a related environment.
  • ICPAK member would be desirable.
  • A person of integrity, team player and have effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of various Sacco Software Systems will be an added advantage.
