Project Manager - Leadership Centre Project

The candidate will be responsible for the overall coordination of supervision and delivery of the Leadership Centre Project.
Employment terms: Contract
Job Purpose: The Project Manager will be responsible for the
supervision of construction according to strict deadlines and within
budget.
This includes acquiring resources and
coordinating the efforts of the team members and third-party contractors and
consultants in order to deliver the project according to the decision and
implementation plan and oversee quality control throughout its construction
cycle.
Reports to: Director, College of Insurance
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in the implementation of
the strategic objectives of the project.
- Direct the construction of the project and
ensure that it is delivered within the available resources, and that it is
completed within time, cost, quality, risk, scope and project objectives,
initiating corrective action and obtain approval where necessary.
- Ensure appropriate construction with minimal
interference to College operations.
- Act as the liaison person with all the
stakeholders and other external parties, consultants, contractors, donors,
financiers and statutory agents.
- Lead and motivate the project management team
to ensure successful delivery of the project objectives by interfacing
with existing operations and facilitating resolution of any challenges.
- In conjunction with the Architect, review
contract documents relating to the project to ensure accuracy, quality
& completeness and bring any discrepancies to the attention of all the
concerned parties.
- In conjunction with the Architect, prepare and
advise on budgets, seek approval &impart controls at all stages of the
project to meet project budget.
- In conjunction with the Architect, review the project
plans and specifications and advise on designs on scheduling, cost saving
measures and potential construction challenges.
- Coordinate site safety and ensure that the
requirements of the occupational health and safety act other aviation
safety guidelines are enforced.
- Prepare regular financial reports, risk
reports, progress reports, environmental health and safety reports and
project completion reports. And maintain records.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent knowledge in project management
principles, techniques and the built environment.
- Thorough knowledge of resource planning
methods
- Understanding of the financial planning
process
- Ability to work in a intense working
environment
- Self-motivated, independent solution-oriented,
deadline driven individual with strong time management skills
- Strong analytical ability, attention to detail
and strategic thinker
- Very good negotiation and communication
skills.
- Must be a team player.
Qualification & Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in
architecture, engineering or other relevant disciplines
- Masters degree or equivalent in relevant
fields will be an added advantage
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in building
construction project management 10 of which must have been as Project
Manager.
- Must have supervised a project of similar size
- Project management certification
- Good computer knowledge is necessary.
