Job Title: Communications Intern
The mission of the Zeitz Foundation
is to create and support sustainable, ecologically and socially responsible
projects and destinations around the world to achieve long-lasting impact and
sustainability, with the goal of maintaining and improving the integrity of
ecosystems through effective, sustainable management practices, which enhance
the ability of ecosystems to deliver services for the benefit of mankind.
Internship
The internship is for a period of
four months in Segera, Laikipia Kenya, running from 2nd September 2015 - 29
December 2015.
Candidates are expected to be
familiar with Zeitz Foundation (www.zeitzfoundation.org) and to have an active
interest in web-based communications and internet-based technologies.
The intern will be required to work a
40 hour week from Monday to Friday at the Foundation’s head office in Segera.
Core office hours are 8:00-17:00. Job description
You will be responsible for updating
Zeitz Foundation (www.zeitzfoundation.org) News & Resources section by
producing and/or editing news articles and also producing an e-newsletter
communicating the work of the Foundation in Laikipia.
You will be responsible for assisting
the Team and responding to queries and feedback. You will be responsible for
maintaining Zeitz Foundation social network presence (Facebook, YouTube, and
Twitter).
You will be expected to take part in
team meetings and to assist with various other activities within the
organisation.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Good command of English and Swahili
- A good eye for the English language with
outstanding editing and proof reading skills
- Excellent writing skills
- Keen, demonstrable interest in web-based
communications and internet-based technologies
- Educated to degree level with an academic
background in communications, sociology, anthropology, sports management,
sport science or any other related fields
- Related work experience
Desirable:
- Volunteering or work experience within a
non-profit
- Familiarity with the fields of agriculture,
sport and development or natural resource management
- Knowledge of other local languages
