Position Responsible To: Logistics
Manager / Head OPS
Overall Objective: Achieve considerable driving and trucking skills along with great ability to drive in a safe manner in order to provide excellent delivery services and perform maintenance effectively and maintaining fuel efficiency
Key Tasks
- Operate the truck following training in safety
measures and defensive driving techniques as prescribed in driver’s manual
and emergency response procedure
- Meet delivery schedules and adhere to planned
routes (journey plans) and complying to all rules (no go zones)
- Collect and verify delivery instructions and
monitor all loadings and offloadings
- Report all effects incidences accidents
involving the truck and product
- Operate the truck following all legal
regulations and ensure proper documents are in place (insurance VICs speed
governor certificates, calibration charts, etc
- Keep the truck clean and well maintained and
inspect vehicles for mechanical issues if need be and verify, preventive
maintenance and pre and post inspections
- Comply in terms of reporting to work and
observing rules on drugs and alcohol, seat belt policy, truck driving
rules (size weight, route designation, bread/rest periods etc while on
duly
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading
positions
- Follow applicable traffic rules
- Take orders for new adhoc assignment from your
manager or top management
- Monitor weather and road conditions and watch
out for traffic conditions, updating the tracking team immediately of any
difficulty on the same
- Complete all the documents correctly and on a
timely basis as required by the company
- Drive long distances or distances delegated to
you
- Take responsibility of products
- Follow terms and conditions of the contract
Key Requirements
- O’ level certificate
- 7 years articulated truck driving experience
(Mantrac)
- Valid driving license with good driving record
- Defensive Driving certificate
- Certificate of good conduct
- Minimum age 40 years
- AA of Kenya Driver’s Competence/Assessment
