As it builds a network of maternity hospitals, Jacaranda Health launched one clinic in Nairobi in 2012, a second in 2014, and one more is in process in the region. 

Vacancy: Procurement Assistant

Job Summary:
 We are seeking to hire a procurement assistant to work in our Maternity Hospitals. 

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Impact Evaluation, the procurement assistant will primarily be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the JH stores, purchase orders, receive goods, distribute and ensure security of stock.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preparing or editing purchase orders from various departments.
  • Checking if there is enough stock in the inventory to meet requirements.
  • Placing orders with suppliers or vendors and ensuring that documentation is in order, with terms and conditions being clear.
  • Maintaining a filing system in the finance department and updating appropriate records when required.
  • Evaluating costs of purchasing from various suppliers to arrive at the best deal.
  • Inspecting orders to verify if they are in order and as per agreed terms.
  • Interacting with suppliers in case of delay in delivery of supplies, receipt of damaged or incorrect quantity of goods.
  • Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies
  • CPA part 1
  • At least 1-2 years’ proven working experience in purchasing and supplies.
  • Computer knowledge and ability to work with Microsoft office tools.
  • Familiarity with procurement systems.
  • Strong communication and organization skills

Vacancy: Cashier

Job Summary: We are seeking to hire a cashier to work in our Maternity Hospitals. 

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Impact Evaluation, the cashier will primarily be responsible for receiving and disbursing money at the point of payment. 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
  • Count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
  • Maintain correct cash balances at cash registers.
  • Establish or identify prices of services or admission, and tabulate bills using calculators, cash registers, or optical price scanners.
  • Calculate total payments received during a time period, and reconcile this with total sales.
  • Compute and record totals of transactions.
  • Keep periodic balance sheets of amounts and numbers of transactions.
  • Post charges against patients' accounts.
  • Minimum CPA part 1.
  • At least 1-2 years’ proven working experience as a cashier
  • Basic computer knowledge and familiarity with electronic equipment (e.g. cash register, scanners, money counters etc)
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and mathematical skills
