Senior Project Manager Job Vacancy in Kenya

An investment company with operations in the East Africa region, focusing on power, energy, natural resources and related infrastructure, seeks to engage an experienced and professional Senior Project Manager who will lead to a development of a full Geothermal Power Plant in Nakuru. 

He or she will oversee the transition of the company’s project from its final stages of development, through financial closing to commissioning, and commercial operations.

Specific Responsibilities
  • The successful candidate will own the project execution process: managing the process transition from development to construction and to the operations phase
  • Establishing, implementing and maintaining operating standards to ensure quality results and customer satisfaction
  • Overseeing the tender process and managing the process involved.
  • Updating the shareholders and partners on progress and critical path activities
  • Ensuring the project execution is within the Kenyan law and international best practice
  • Ensuring the process exceeds all the required Environmental, Health and Safety obligations
  • Liaising with the relevant government departments, (Energy, Treasury, Planning, NEMA, GDC, etc) regarding permitting, progress and interface meetings
  • Recruiting and managing a team of the required delivery personnel
  • Managing external consultants and liaising with advisors
  • Transition from the Senior Project Manager to Managing Director of the operating asset
  • Any other duty relating to the project
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • At least ten years experience in project management in the power sector
  • Some geothermal specific experience would be preferred
  • Candidates who have experience starting out a project from early construction stage
