Scrap in Charge
Purpose of the Position: Responsible for overseeing the receipt, monitoring, processing and preparation of scrap products, as well as directing the activities of the scrap yard personnel. 

  • Monitoring and arranging for disposal of defective stocks.
  • Directs workers in loading, unloading and movement of materials on the premises.
  • Oversees receiving and storage of yard materials.
  • Provides on-the-job and safety training to new yard employees and ensures that they receive proper training and certification, if necessary, to operate equipment and machinery used in the yard.
  • Ensures that equipment is serviced on schedule and maintained effectively.
  • Inspects loading operations for outgoing deliveries.
  • Ensures good housekeeping and safety procedures are followed in recycling or disposal; reports safety hazards and handles remedial action.
  • Provides delivery status information and inventory availability.
  • Assigns employee tasks, monitors and reviews work progress and accuracy, and addresses escalated issues.
  • Responsible for maintaining the flow of recyclables, ensuring each piece is properly sorted, processed and resold.
  • Maintains updated knowledge of OSHA regulations, investigates any accident claims and reports occurrences to management.
  • Prepares weekly & monthly inventory reports.
  • Performs other related jobs as assigned by superiors.
Job Specifications:
  • Certificate in Plant & Machine Maintenance / Operations or any other related field.
  • 2 years’ experience in scrap yard operations and familiarity with machine operations and factory productions.
  • Advanced knowledge of operations and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard.
