Duma Works is looking for a Project Accountant for one of our leading real estate
clients.
The company aims at bridging the gap
between the huge demand for affordable housing and this shortage of
supply.
The company also has a pilot project,
over 900 homes in a booming satellite town, on the outskirts of Nairobi.
The company is searching for a
talented and tenacious Project Accountant who can successfully spearhead the
finance function for the development and with it initiate a revolution in the
provision of housing to hard working families throughout East Africa.
Our company owns the land it is
developing and has the requisite approvals to proceed with this high profile
project, which is set to spark considerable interest when it launches.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
The successful candidate should have:
- CPA 3 / ACCA 3 / CIMA or equivalent
- At least 5 years experience in a business with
a strong element of project finance.
- Experience with a real estate developer
- You must be well organized, have excellent
attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong Microsoft office skills (Excel and
Modeling)
- Experience using generic accounting software
is expected.
- You will also have an aptitude for
communicating effectively with customers, in both Kiswahili and English,
as well as motivating and leading the sales team. Above all we require
passion, drive and integrity.
- The role. As the Project Accountant you will
be responsible for the day-to-day accounting and financial reporting
requirements of the company. You will also be required to safeguard the
company’s reputation, by dealing with all stakeholders in an honest and
professional manner.
Specific Areas of Responsibilities

- Maintaining all the books of accounts at an
efficient and accurate level at all times.
- Cash-flow forecasts and monthly projections.
- Preparation of annual budgets.
- Produce Monthly budget updates against
actuals.
- Monthly trial balances of operations.
- Monthly Profit and Loss / Balance sheets.
- Management of audit process and preparation of
the company accounts for the Auditors.
- Ensure all taxes, VAT, Company Returns and
other government outgoings are paid on time and queries answered.
- Manage the day-to-day banking requirements of
the company. Daily bank reconciliation.
- Ensure creditors and debtors are paid/received
on time.
- Keep the management aware of all financial
transactions at all times.
- Generating financial reports as required by
the management and the board of directors.
- Manage funds flow with regard to bank
draw-downs and house sales revenues. This would involve closely tracking
deposits, mortgage disbursements and follow-ups to installment payments.
- Work closely with the sales team to match the
financial position with the sales position.
- Maintain and develop the in-house management
information system.
- Ensuring all statutory requirements such as
local licenses and permits are complied
- Labor laws- ensure that the company adheres to
all labor laws and related statutory requirements.
- Any other related duties required by the
Management from time to time.
You will report directly to the
Managing Director.
This position is based in Nairobi and
will involve limited travel within the region as required.
