Title: Management
Accountant
Department: Finance
Main Purpose of the Job: Coordination and implementation of budget preparation, administration and production of management accounting reports, the position reports to the Head of Finance and supervises the Accountants.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily
report summarizing all revenue transactions for the day , with cumulative
MTD , YTD and comparison against budgets
- Preparation
of rolling weekly and monthly Cash flow and Profitability forecasts
derived from actual and budgets performance
- Review
and Update of inventory costing and valuations on a monthly basis for
Consumable stocks and Biological assets, with any discrepancies in the
movements, balances and valuation identified and investigated exhaustively
and corrective action proposed
- Participate
in the annual budget development and preparation with departmental
managers
- Extract
and review donor financial reports on a monthly basis clearly identifying
variances between actual and budget activity and establishing the cause of
the same and coordinate the submission to relevant departmental heads and
donors/stakeholders
- Review
and reconcile general ledger accounts, providing updated monthly audit
schedules for all balance sheet accounts, with recommendations for
adjustments highlighted to HoF this process involves the reviewing
of journals , payments , receipts and related transaction
documents to determine valid and accurate posting to the
relevant general ledger accounts.
- Ensure
timely general ledger month –end closing and appropriate cut
off is in place.
- Ensure
timely communication to other department in terms of accounting
requirements and resolve queries in regards to financial statements
- Preparation
and coordination of the annual audit schedules and working papers for
approval and submission to the external auditor.
- Determine
the validity of entries and corrections, evaluating variances, and
analyzing the effects of transactions on various account relationships.
- Analyze
expenditure variances and investigate the causes.
- Participate
in maintaining and updating of assets register;
- Participate
in ascertaining proper and optimal control systems and monitoring accurate
recording of all financial transactions
- Attend
and advice for all enquiries on all management accounting related matters;
- Perform
any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s
degree in Commerce, Business Management, Economics or related field from a
recognized University;
- CPA/
CFA or equivalent professional qualifications
- Membership
of good standing with ICPAK/ACCA
Experience
- 3
years relevant experience in a busy environment
- Demonstrated
experience in use of computerized accounting systems , Sun Systems
- Must
be proficient in MS Office Suites.

Infrastructure and Provisioning
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and
configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage,
etc. in accordance with standards and operational requirements.
- Install, configure and maintain systems such
as Infor Financials (sunsystems), Paymaster, HR Master, ArcGIS, Enquest on
servers and user computers
- Develop and maintain installation and
configuration procedures.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Planning and installation of networks
- Assist the Head of Technology in Research and
recommendation of innovative and automated approaches for system
administration tasks.
- Identify approaches that leverage our
resources and provide economies of scale.
Operations
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the
integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and
key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying
completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring of systems
and network to identify any possible intrusions.
- Monitor the network and ensure it is
maintained at peak performance
- Identify and suggest solutions to ensure the
network meets global standards in performance and redundancy
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all
required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the
appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and offsite backup
is updated as required
- Perform regular file archival and purge as
necessary.
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per
request.
- Provide support per request from various
users. Investigate and troubleshoot issues.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software
failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted users.
Maintenance
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular
basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new
services as necessary.
- Upgrade and configure systems such as Infor
Financials (sunsystems), Paymaster, HR Master, ArcGIS, Enquest.
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other
procedures.
- Perform periodic performance reporting to
support capacity planning.
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware
upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU,
memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Maintain server room environmental and
monitoring equipment.
- Maintaining at all times an atmosphere of professional
and work ethics in the Technology office.
- Maintaining confidentiality of any information
they come across in the course of their work, at all times as required by
the Company Policy and professional ethics.
- Performing any other duties that may be
delegated from time to time by the Head of Technology
