Profile Introduction:
 Our client, an International Company, dealing with the provision of solutions in energy, healthcare, transportation and finance is seeking to recruit an Accounts Payable Accountant based in Kenya.

Overall purpose of the role is to:
 Ensure maximum productivity and stability in the accounts department, timeliness of work and submission of reports. 

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting and an Accounting Professional Qualification (Such. ACCA, CIMA or CPA);
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience in a fast paced finance department;
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP, local reporting requirements (IFRS), ERP or systems (e.g. Oracle, Navision) and finance operation processes and controls
Job Specification
  • Responsible for account payables and ensures good rapport with the vendors and timely payment of their invoices;
  • Ensure timely and accurate vendor account reconciliations;
  • Ensure data required for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports is compiled and analyzed. This includes preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of GL and subsidiary ledger accounts;
  • Provide support to Balance Sheet accounts reconciliation process;
  • Preparation of  timely statutory and local tax reporting requirements for submission to the appropriate authorities and finance business leader for approval prior to filing and payment;
  • Ensure timeliness of work and accounting functions;
  • Establish and maintain accounting  systems and procedures;
  • Make recommendation on the implementation of accounting system revisions to increase efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Establish and maintain effective accounting controls;
  • Will engage and assists in annual audit (internal and external), ensuring accuracy of all information needed by the auditor and reconciliation of accounts. Confers with manager regarding problem areas, recommendations to drive efficiency;
  • Process improvement through elimination of non-value adds process and procedures, or other alternative workable solutions.
