Job Advert: Project Officer, El Wak
Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is recruiting a Project Officer for the Somalia Country Programme. 

The Project Officer, El Wak, will take the lead in ensuring that the project reaches its targets. 

In particular, they will plan, implement, review and support the delivery of the Food Security and Livelihood component of the project. 
 

Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) is an African-led, regional organisation, working in East and Southern Africa to improve the lives of livelihood-challenged communities. 

AAH-I has country programmes in Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda, and Zambia. It brings over 20 years’ experience working with communities in conflict and post-conflict situations, including refugees, internally displaced people and host communities. 

More recently, it has expanded its activities to work with other marginalised communities, including pastoralist communities and communities in urban slums.


The Project Officer, El Wak will report to the Project Manager, El Wak and will be part of AAH-I’s Somalia Country Programme. 

The post will be responsible for overseeing the work of the Community Mobilisers and will be supported by an Assistant Project Officer. 

The post is based in the project office in El Wak, Kenya

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
 
Essential
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Diploma in Agriculture, Certificate in Community Development, Project Management)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages including Microsoft Word and Excel
  • At least 5 years’ of progressively responsible programme experience in implementing FS& L activities with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Good spoken Somali and spoken and written English.
  • A strong understanding of the socio-cultural and political context in Gedo and South Central Somalia.
  • Able to operate effectively and to gain trust in politically sensitive environments
  • Skilled in influencing and obtaining cooperation of individuals
  • Welcomes and values diversity, and contributes to an inclusive working environment where differences are acknowledged and respected.
  • Commitment to and understanding of AAH-I’s vision, mission, and values.
Desirable
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in relevant area
  • Experience in developing funding applications.
  • Experience in development of success stories
  • Experience in use of Social Media to communicate project/programme work.
  • Understanding of the humanitarian sector.
