Program Assistant Job in Kenya - NGO

Our client is an International social justice organisation that focuses on grant making, works through implementing partners in East Africa with the goal of advancing reforms in land, livelihoods, rights, media and civic participation, particularly for women and youth.

 

We are looking for an individual with strong programme management skills and specifically those with expertise working through partners with a focus to fill the position of Program Assistant

The role will provide administrative, logistical and grant making support as well as developing and maintaining grantee relations. 

Reporting to the Program Officer, your core responsibilities will be:
  • Liaise with grantee organisations to ensure timely and accurate preparation and presentation of financial and narrative reports. This also entails reviewing and raising any discrepancies in grantee reports
  • Support Program Officers in coordinating grantees proposals documents, production of briefing book and maintain minutes for all program specific activities. This also includes vetting grantee proposals to ensure compliance with organization’s policy and providing timely feedback to grantees on their applications
  • Assist in the management of grant portfolio according to the organisations policy.
  • Regularly research and report on relevant program issues.
  • Assist the Program Officers in management of program budget allocations.
  • Participate in program meetings and grant monitoring site visits.
  • When need be, represent the organization at grantee and partner events.
Requirements: We wish to discuss this position with highly skilled and motivated professionals who hold a first degree from a recognized University; have at least 5 years proven experience in working with implementing partners, and in addition possess:
  • Ability to prioritize work assignments, handle multiple tasks independently
  • Capacity to undertake internet based research
  • Ability to work with diverse teams
  • Has initiative and follow through skills
  • Accepts supervision and feedback well, demonstrates reliability
