Organization: The
Center for Victims of Torture (CVT) is a humanitarian non-governmental
organization that provides mental health and physical therapy rehabilitation to
refugees around the world.
Currently CVT implements programs in
Nairobi urban and Dadaab encampment.
Position: Finance Assistant
Location: NairobiPosition: Finance Assistant
Objective: The Finance Assistant main responsibilities are to assist the Finance Controller in maintaining sound financial systems, policies and procedures, and internal controls in coordination with other departments to ensure appropriate and cost-effective use of CVT financial resources.
Report to: Finance Controller
Key Performance Areas:
- Assists the Finance Controller in maintaining
and implementing effective internal controls and appropriate financial
systems, policies and procedures;
- Assists the Finance Controller in maintaining
and efficient filing system;
- Disburses cash for expenditures in accordance
with approved Purchase Requests and in coordination with other departments
(Clinical Program staffs and Logistics);
- Receives Payment Requests for cash and cheques
transactions and facilitates authorization and approval;
- Establishes reconciliation of all outstanding
advances, payables and outstanding checks;
- Documents all financial transactions and make
sure every financial transaction is well supported with appropriate
documents, well recorded and files are properly maintained;
- Facilitates shipment of Finance Program
Reports and other documentation to Head Quarters.
- Other tasks should be assigned by the
supervisor in the course of the work.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Business Administration, CPA II
(sect 3 & 4) and knowledge of ACCPAC;
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience
in the same position and/or with cash management experience;
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word
and Excel);
- Good team player, communication and good
organizational skills;
- Accuracy and keen to details
