The Kenya National Bureau of
Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act
(2006). It is the principal Government agency responsible for the collection,
compilation, analysis, publication and dissemination of official statistical
information and its custody.
KNBS intends to conduct the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS) which will be a source of data to update the country’s poverty profile, consumer price index weights, National Accounts data and other socioeconomic indicators.
The Bureau therefore invites
applications from suitably qualified individuals with excellent credentials to
fill the following temporary positions:-
Job Title: Field Interviewer
Ref: KNBS/ FI/4/2015
No. of Posts: 56 (To be distributed in all counties)
Reporting to the Field Supervisor,
the Field Interviewers are the key personnel in the data collection exercise.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Locating sampled households with the
assistance of the supervisor
- Conducting the interviews to the targeted
respondents and completing the questionnaire(s)
- Checking the completed questionnaires to
ensure that all questions were asked and responses neatly and legibly
recorded
- Arranging for interviews and callbacks
- Maintaining confidentiality of the interviews
and the data collected
- Locating survey materials and equipment
- Preparing debriefing notes for the supervisor
Requirements for Appointment
- Must be a Kenyan citizen
- Should have completed at least secondary level
of education, with a minimum of C+ (Plus) or its equivalent.
- Must have scored a minimum of C+ (plus) in
Mathematics and English in KCSE
- Must be residents of the county they will be
assigned to work
- Must be conversant with the main local
language/dialect of the area of work
- Should possess good communication skills
- Should be a team player
- Must be physically fit and able to walk in
difficult terrains
- Ready to work for long hours including
weekends
- Must be available for a period of an
uninterrupted 8 months from the date of recruitment
