The Kenya National Bureau of
Statistics (KNBS) is a corporate body established under the Statistics Act
(2006).
It is the principal Government agency
responsible for the collection, compilation, analysis, publication and
dissemination of official statistical information and its custody.
KNBS intends to conduct the Kenya Integrated Household Budget Survey (KIHBS) which will be a source of data to update the country’s poverty profile, consumer price index weights, National Accounts data and other socioeconomic indicators.

Reporting to the Field supervisor, the Field Editors will be expected to provide support to the Field Interviewers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Accompanying each Field Interviewer on a
specified number of interviewing visits to observe and review interviews.
- Meeting regularly with Field Interviewers to
discuss progress and common mistakes noted or encountered.
- Providing assistance to interviews when
challenges are encountered, in the absence of the Supervisor
- Ensuring that all assigned households are
covered including all the call backs.
- Providing constructive feedback on errors to
improve Field Interviewer performance.
- Verifying and validating each Field
Interviewer's work according to edit specifications and completing
appropriate follow-up actions.
- Tracking overall Field Interviewer data
quality.
- Interviewing and capturing household
information using computer aided personal interview (CAPI) approach.
- Compiling prompt and accurate field status
reports.
- Assisting the supervisor in conducting the
community and market questionnaire
- Preparing debriefing notes for the supervisor
- Forwarding to the supervisor all completed
questionnaires and relevant notes.
Requirements for Appointment
- Must be a Kenyan citizen
- Should have completed at least secondary level
of education, with a minimum of C+ (plus) or its equivalent.
- Must have scored a minimum of C+ (plus) in
Mathematics and English in KCSE
- Must be proficient in laptop use
- Must have a typing speed of at least 30 words
per minute
- Should possess good interpersonal and
communication skills
- Experience in censuses and/or surveys data
entry operations will be an added advantage
- Experience in CSPro software will be an added
advantage
- Must be able to write legibly
- Must be resident in the county where
application is made and where they wish to work
- Should be a team player
- Ready to work for long hours including
weekends
- Must be available for a period of an
uninterrupted 8 months
