Background: NCA works for the attainment and realization of peoples’ rights through the development of sustainable initiatives and strengthening of local capacities. 

NCA’s interventions in Kenya focus mainly on climate change, gender based violence, women and governance and livelihoods and trade. 

Kenya Programme activities are clustered in Mandera, Embu, Yatta, Nairobi, Kajiado and Lamu / Tana River.
 
NCA Kenya Programme is seeking to recruit a qualified and experienced person to fill the following position: 

Job Title: Programme Assistant 

Reporting to: Country Programme Manager 

Duty Station: Nairobi with frequent travel to the field 

Contract Period: 1 Year
 

Overall Responsibilities: Support the Programme team to effectively achieve its goals and deliver on its outputs and the 2015 annual work plan for Kenya Programme
 
Other Responsibilities:
  • Provide support in implementation of interventions focusing on NCA thematic priorities of Climate Change, Livelihood and Gender Justice.
  • Work closely with partners working on NCA thematic priorities and support the monitoring of their projects
  • Support the development of Programme reports
  • Support the implementation of the Programme exit strategy
  • Participate in Program planning and decision-making processes as may be required by the Country Program Manager.
  • Represent the Country Program Manager in meetings and other functions as is required.
Job Requirements
 
Education: - 
  • A diploma in Social/Development studies or related fields 
Experience: - 
  • At least 3 years in Project Planning and Management. Public Policy and Advocacy would be an added advantage.
Skills: - 
  • Demonstrable skills in relevant thematic areas and report writing. 
  • Proficiency in computer use (Word processing, Powerpoint, Spreadsheet and Outlook 
Language: -  
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
The successful candidate will be expected to have an understanding, interpretation and commitment to NCA’s vision, mission, values and strategies. 

Knowledge of the 2010 HAP Standard in Accountability and Quality Management will be an added advantage.
