Our client in the Transport Industry is seeking a motivated, self-driven and results oriented individual to join its team and one who has specialized skills for Heavy Commercial Vehicles; Actros, Axor, Man, Scania, Volvo and Iveco.

Job Summary: The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director in contract management, company logistics issues; take up a supervisory role of all drivers and in charge of all training and performance related issues of the drivers.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates the loading and offloading of products at Customer locations
  • Plan, organize and manage transportation staff to ensure that the work is accomplished in an efficient manner, consistent with Company objectives and requirements.
  • Cost effectively and optimally manage the operations.
  • Review operations for increased efficiencies
  • Ensuring prompt and accurate service to the Company’s customers
  • Implement a robust reporting system to ensure that all data is accurately projected and no gaps in the information
  • Conduct analysis of transportation and distribution opportunities.
  • Managing of Contracts
  • Making sure operations meet their performance target
  • Plans delivery of customer products/ goods
  • Oversees the preparation of delivery documents, fueling vouchers
  • To respond to customer/ stakeholder queries
  • Responsible for proactively managing drivers to the daily plan and ensuring drivers adhere to safe driving requirements
  • Responsible for driver training and performance review
  • Ensures delivery to customers are accurate and seamlessly executed
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties and assignment as may be directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • Be a holder of higher National Diploma or Degree in the  relevant field ( logistics or shipping)
  • 5 years’ experience in the transport industry. Oil industry experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Good knowledge of the East Africa region, especially the road network
  • Must have an ability to plan in detail, have effective communication, organization and leadership skills
  • Ability to thrive is a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meets tight deadlines.
  • Must be proficient with computers and appropriate software.
  • Knowledge of an automated fleet management solution
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing
