Job Title: Internal Assessor
 
Location: Head Office
 
Division / Department: Claims 
 
Immediate Supervisor: Assistant Manager Claims – Non Legal

Overall Responsibility: This position is responsible for the summative and formative internal verification of assessment reports. Re-inspect motor vehicles and assess small damages

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Scrutinize all the assessment reports submitted by the assessors and recommending the next course of action.
  • Ensure that all assessors conduct themselves professionally and ethically and make recommendations where action is warranted.
  • Re-inspect all motor vehicles within Nairobi after repairs are concluded by the garages.
  • Recommend for a second assessment on accident vehicles outside Nairobi whenever necessary.
  • Assess and authorize small damages (up to Kshs. 100,000) without involving external assessors.
  • Prepare analysis assessment reports for damages below Kshs.200, 000 and authorize repairs without a second opinion unless where necessary.
  • Carry out a second assessment on all vehicles whose estimated damage is more than Kshs.200, 000 and authorize their repairs immediately after making the necessary adjustments.
  • Appoint an assessor for all cases estimated above Kshs.500, 000 assessed for a second opinion before authorizing repairs.
  • Isolate and carry out repairs audit for the specific cases identified at the time of scrutinizing the claim form and assessment reports.
  • Determine the reserve amount and update as appropriate.
  • Carry out random checks on garages and provide recommendations
  • Prepare monthly reports giving claims change indicators.
  • Any other duties as may be allocated by the management.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering
  • Certification in Insurance will be an added advantage
  • 2 years working experience
Competencies
  • Knowledge in insurance products and services
  • Basic knowledge claims management/handling
  • Excellent analytical, communication and customer handling skills
  • Ability to build relationships and good report writing skills
  • Good understanding of asset valuation and assessment

Job Title: Assistant Legal Officer
 
Location: Head Office
 
Division / Department: Claims
 
Immediate Supervisor: Senior Legal Officer

Overall Responsibility: The position is responsible for controlling matters under litigation with external lawyers, all legal cases under their services, and out of court settlements and/or recoveries in liaison with the Senior Legal Officer.
 

Key Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in appointment of defence lawyers where action is brought against the company and ensure at all times the advocates work in the best interest of the Company.
  • Assist in recovery of company outlay from negligent third parties.
  • Assist in negotiating amicably, out of court settlements.
  • Review investigation reports, to ensure that they are comprehensive enough to meet the need for which they were sought, and recommend remedial action as necessary
  • Assist in processing of  payments to claimants and service providers
  • Assist in legal research and preparing legal opinions to both external and internal clients.
  • With the assistance of Senior legal officer, respond to any correspondence and/or enquiries regarding claims legal issues.
  • Maintain adequate reserves for legal claims.
  • Prepare legal documents as required.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s of Law Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in Law
  • Advocate of the High Court
  • 1 year relevant experience

  • Knowledge in insurance products and services
  • Basic knowledge claims management/handling
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
