Lifespring Chapel is a community church whose mission is to develop a whole heart for God, his people and the world through developing Biblical Maturity, Meaningful Relationships, Biblical Stewardship and Active Participation in Missions. 

The church is located in Embakasi and has had a presence in this location for over 15 year’s discipling her congregation and also working with the local communities to address issues holistically. 

In this regard the church in partnership with Compassion International in Kenya started a ministry/ project to reach out to the children living in the margins especially in the informal settlements in Embakasi.
 
Compassion International exists as a Christian child advocacy ministry that releases children from spiritual, economic, social and physical poverty and enables them to become responsible, fulfilled Christian adults. 


Currently the Church has approximately 300 children who are ministered on a daily basis by the church through the project. 

It is in the light of this program that the church seeks to recruit a project director to steer the ministry and processes thus addressing poverty that is witnessed in these communities.

Position: Project Director
 
Location: Embakasi, Nairobi
 
Overview of the Position: The Project Director is the Head of all Child Development Workers in the project. 

The authority and responsibility to direct the day-to-day activities and provide leadership to other staff in the achievement of the CDC objective is vested on the PD. 

She/he as well regularly interacts with Compassion International representative and other staff members directly responsible for different departments within the specific program.

Professional Relationships
  • The PD reports to the Lifespring Chapel Minister for Children and the Church Partnership Committee
  • Project Director’s position is ultimately service to God.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • In charge of the spiritual development of the children
  • Compiles and write weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Implements the budget and plan for the project in consultation with the Church Partnership committee.
  • Ensures that holistic child development takes effect in form of activities relating to the four development areas stipulated in the PFM.
  • Implements a curriculum that will ensure that learning activities promote the four areas of development.
  • Depending on the felt needs, he/she is in charge of generating applicable proposals, at the advice of the CPC, and forwarding them to the PF.
  • Keeps an open communication with the CPC and PF.
  • In charge of all project children’s programs.
  • Attends all CPC meetings.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A committed Christian with a passion for Christ’s Holistic mission
  • A university degree from a recognized university in the areas of Social Work, community development, education development studies or/and social sciences
  • Considerable experience in development work with an added advantage of working with children in the informal settlements
  • Must have a working knowledge of budgets and work plans
  • Past experience working with Compassion International assisted projects is an added advantage
Desired Skills
  • Understanding of holistic ministries especially through the Church
  • Demonstrated passion for children’s ministry
  • Understanding of child protection guidelines and practices
  • Computer proficient [Office Productivity Software].

Lifespring Chapel (Embakasi) 

Vacancy: Church Caretaker

Our Mission: The mission of Lifespring Chapel is to develop a whole heart for God, his people and the world through developing biblical maturity, meaningful relationships, biblical stewardship and active participation in missions. 

Overview of this Position: The Church Caretaker assumes the responsibilities of the following tasks:
  • General cleanliness of the property; grounds keeping, garbage management, classroom cleaning, office cleanliness among other tasks that will ensure the facility is kept in a clean and presentable state.
  • Errands; delivery of letters as instructed by the church leadership from time to time. This also involves collection of mail from the post office. Any other general tasks as reasonably instructed.
  • Set up; preparation for our services as instructed.
  • Preparation of staff teas every day
  • Refreshments as instructed for ministry groups
  • Other similar tasks as reasonably instructed.

Professional Relationships
  • The Caretaker reports directly to the Church Accounts & Admin Assistant.
  • The Caretaker is supported by the members of Lifespring Chapel and works for the members and ultimately works in service to God. 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Displays a loving relationship with Jesus and is deeply committed to His service.
  • Must possess strong organisation and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to follow through on tasks.
  • Understands and enthusiastically supports the purpose of Lifespring Chapel, our mission, vision, and core values, and will constantly strive toward Biblical Stewardship.
  • Is able to set measurable goals and follow through.
  • Is able to identify, motivate and train volunteers as required.
  • Is the model of a Christian in attitude, actions and appearance. 
Desired Skills:
  • Possess a KCSE certificate; any trade skills will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Has strong “people skills” – approachable, friendly and easy to talk with.
  • Competence with drive for personal development.
  • Has ability to have team orientation amongst co-workers that result in a high dedication to quality and continuous improvement.
