Chief Accountant Job in Kenya

Our client is leading medical clinic in Kenya which offers clinical services provided by a compliment of qualified doctors, and diagnostic services in her in house laboratories. 

Our client has numerous branches with pharmacies and radiology units. 

The clinic has extensive networks in Kenya and seeks to recruit a Chief Accountant who will be reporting to the Finance Manager.

Job Description
  • Coordinating all the financial activities at the Hospital including supervising staff and functions of the finance and procurement departments.
  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts report and circulation by 7th day of the following month.
  • Responsible for the preparation of the monthly cash-flow projections and managing the cash-flow to meet the Hospital’s priorities.
  • Responsible for coordinating annual financial audits and ensuring timely preparation of the audit schedules and trial balance for audit purposes.
  • Responsible for budget preparation namely: CAPEX, revenue and expenditure budgets.
  • Develop a system that ensures credit control functions are efficient with an aim to reduce the debtors’ days and the exposure to non-payment from cash paying clients.
  • Represent finance department in the operations and management meetings at the Hospital.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly closing journals namely: accruals, provisions, payroll and amortizations.
  • Overseeing the updating of the general ledger and other subsidiary ledgers, manage various reconciliations and analysis and approving making correction journals. 
  • Develop and implement a system that ensures that there is accuracy in revenue capture and billing of clients.
  • Develop and implement a system that ensures bank, mobile money and credit cards transactions are reviewed by the Chief Accountant on weekly basis
  • Ensure the full implementation of a computerized financial system.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business related degree.
  • Master’s Degree will be an added advantage
  • Certified Public Accountant – CPA(K)/  ACCA Membership
  • Computer literate -working knowledge of Dynamic Navision, and Ms Office.
  • At least 5 years working experience as an accountant
  • Experience in preparation of financial reports to audit level.
  • Experience in budget preparation
  • Excellent communication skills.
